WKRBC is your community blood center, locally operated as a 501C3 nonprofit, governed by a Board of Directors and administered by Janet I. Howard, MT(ASCP)SBB. As the sole supplier of blood products and components to nine western KY medical facilities, WKRBC is THE only blood center in The Commonwealth of KY with the ability to recruit, collect, test, process and deliver voluntarily donated blood from its Owensboro, KY site. Why do we mention it? Because this allows us to respond immediately to any blood need, the center is self sufficient and does not rely on outside laboratories to conduct our testing. Our success is dependent upon one of our community’s most precious resources, the volunteer blood donor.
