The people at the center are nice and take good care of you as a donor. Everything except donor interviews happens in one room, so when checking in, you can see people actively donating. They are located in a small shopping center, so the parking lot is shared.

My husband and I both went today. We didn’t have appointments. The whole staff were very friendly and professional. We were in and out in 45 minutes. Great experience. And we got free ice cream!

Using the website to schedule a donation is easy, but they NEVER answer the phone, so if you have issues or questions for get it. The donation process is long, with lots of reading redundant rules and filling out questionnaires, then being interviewed. That part I understand because of the need for safety, and I’m sure a lot is dictated by law. The staff is friendly I’ll give them that. My biggest problem was that it took three different people a total of 5 tries to hit my vein, and one after the other kept twisting and repositioning the needle after it was in. They didn’t seem to know what they were doing and the PAIN was horrific. For the record I am not delicate and generally have a high pain tolerance and no problem with needles. Then I got light headed, but some Gatorade helped. Anyway, my arm still has a 3” x 5” area of red and purple bruising a full two weeks after the visit.

This location is very new, and it shows. Donor experience is far better at the N. Lamar We Are Blood location. I recommend they staff the Cedar Park location with a veteran from N. Lamar for 6 months to get this staff trained in the We Are Blood way.

Know the lingo before you go! I wrote in my appointment notes AND told the guy who took my vitals and info that I didn’t want a “rookie phlebotomist”. Then the phlebotomist I got was not skilled for thin veins and wasn’t successful after multiple tries (ouch!) — he then calls over a Supervisor who tell me “you should have asked for a Supervisor” — ugh! I didn’t know the lingo — I hope this review is helpful! Updated to say: after posting my review, WeAreBlood responded stating someone would reach out to me – they did not reach out– so I have edited my review to a 1 star experience. (& I still have noticeable pain from the injection site down to my wrist – 5 days later.)

Due to a careless error by the technician, my double-red donation was unusable. After numerous interview questions and restating my name and DOB several times (supposedly to be sure it’s still me), the technician incorrectly entered me as “male” into the machine. Apparently once you do that, you can’t undo it. I didn’t realize until I finished the completed donation of about 30 minutes that the “product” was unusable. Since my body gave blood, I can’t make another donation for several months. After that experience I’m hesitant to go back. I now wonder how many other careless errors occur between my donation and a recipient.

This place is not suitable for elderly or disabled people. The furniture is in the way if you are using a walker or wheelchair. The loinge chair for donating blood is extremely uncomfortable, with no way to adjust the angle.

I give blood here a lot. This was the most chaotic it’s ever been. The girl at the front desk was great! The one who took my blood had a hard time finding the equipment, wasn’t paying attention when she took the small tubes (talking, looking the other way), passed me off to another guy. Afterwards, they always tell me to go have a drink and snack and wait 10 minutes. Was told nothing, but I knew what to do. No Gatorade or drinks available, so I picked up a cookie and left. Most uncomfortable time I’ve ever had there.

Because of their negligence, I lost my drivers license! They never returned it to me after the donation. When I asked them, they said I DONNO, seriously?!?
