I have been donating blood as frequently as they’ll let me for about the past 10 years and I love being able to do it. Jerry is just the best! He makes the donation fun and painless. A couple of suggestions though…can we please get healthier snack options for after the donation like nuts or fruit. I don’t know about most people but personally I don’t want junk food after my donation. Also, stop with the spam emails to regular donors about the critical blood shortage! I would give more if you’d let me 😉

I had the most wonderful experience at vitalant today! I was lucky to be under the care of Jerry, who was hilarious and so kind! It’s clear that Jerry as well as everyone who works here has a real love for what they do and who they work with. I felt so valued and made some new friends!

Such amazing staff that put so much effort into making your experience comfortable and carefree. Jerry was one of the kindest and funniest people I have ever met, I even got a bow on my wrap!

As a first time donor I had a great experience. It only took about an hour to get my paperwork set up and help save lives. Jerry was the man! There is no pressure and the staff was so friendly to work with. Your comfort is their number one priority. If you have an hour to get set up and donate i highly suggest you do so. Not only do you get to find out your blood type and keep track of your health, you get the satisfaction of helping save lives.

I did the online screening, which i believed i was good to donate (with the only exception being if my iron level was high enough). So i made the appointment, took the time off work and drove to the location. Once i got there, a lady took me in a room to review my screening answers. That is when i was told i was never qualified to donate blood because i lived in Germany for 2 years in the early 1990’s. She said it was due to the Mad Cow and the CDC had stated anyone that spent more than a few months in certain countries overseas could not donate because the virus can live in your brain for the rest of your life. That of course freaked me out and i got home and contacted my doctor. Thankfully that is not the case and the CDC’s own site states only if you spent 3 or more months in the UK. Last time i checked, Germany was NOT in the UK. So either the online screening tool needs to be fixed, or that employee needs educated on the CDC’s guidelines. So thanks for wasting my time and scaring me.
