I scheduled an appointment for Monday at 1pm. They currently have a promotion offering a 25 dollar Amazon gift card if you donate platelets. The only other time I donated platelets was at the Lincoln Park location and I had a really positive experience. However, when I walked in I could see there was a disgruntled volunteer waiting to do the same. He was very vocal about having waited for almost an hour and a half for a bed after scheduling an appointment. I felt where he was coming from but it was uncomfortable and I felt bad for the staff. He also made a very loud phone call in the waiting room, complaining about the business’s poor communication and scheduling model. When I was doing my pre screening it appeared the staff was stressed because they were yelling across the office and were acting pretty curt. Fortunately I was on the machine and going by 1:45. They offer free wifi for the donor room and the techs were very sweet and attentive offering blankets and juice during my donation. And of course afterwards you get your stickers and snacks! Overall it was a positive experience, but just dont pack your schedule on days you’re planning to donate since appointment times dont seem too punctual around here. Thanks, Vitalant!

Today was my 4th time at Vitalant to donate! Today I tried donating platelets which is on high demand .. unfortunately my blood was not drawing as quickly as needed so I’ll have to stick to just donating whole blood. Everyone here is always so sweet, GRATEFUL , THANKFUL && gentle. Posting here to get the word out !! Donate blood and / or platelets as much as you can ! You could save a mother, father, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, grandparents, newborns, friends, family !! If you’re healthy and able do what you can to save a life ! DONATE!!!

I donated blood at this location in order to avoid a similar experience at the Lincoln Park location. The nurse Mary whom works at the locations is extremely rude and disrespectful to clients. Both of my encounters were the same with her and I was disappointed to see her at the Paramus location when I showed up and she was equally rude. The rest of the staff was kind and professionally behaved. The technician that had today at Paramus was fantastic. It would be such a more pleasurable experience knowing that you are saving lives by donating blood if you weren’t greeted by such unprofessional behavior and treatment. I will try to avoid her on my next donation at all cost. If she were to be there again I would most likely turn around and leave.

Great site! Did a double platelets and it didn’t take too long, about 100 minutes.

I had a 1 PM appointment today. I arrived at 12:50 and there were 2 other people waiting in the hall in front of me. We were not admitted until about 1:07, and by that time there were 6 people in the hall, and one gentleman was so frustrated he just left. No explanation for opening late, no apology or anything. The staff that was present was pretty disorganized as well. The one bright spot was the lady who drew my blood. Last name Kaur…she was very good. Not a good experience…I will go elsewhere next time.

I was extremely disappointed with my last experience at the Paramus donating center. The staff there seem disorganized, ill-trained and not really interested in their jobs. First and foremost, what is the point of setting up an online appointment if I still have to wait 45 minutes to be set up for my donation? They seem to not have a handle on some of the technology they are using (tablets used for screening questionnaire) and for the most part, their work flow seems extremely inefficient. A gentleman walked in shortly after me and I saw 4 different people ask him if had already been registered…4 different people. The person who screened me did not know how to use the tablet and kept calling for help because she did not know how to navigate the program; after finally moving onto the back area to give my donation, the phlebotomist kept questioning me about having ever been there before and if I had ever donated plasma. It wasn’t until I showed her my online account on my phone and the 4 plasma donations I have made since 2016 that she finally believed me, she seemed unsure of her abilities during the entire process. She then couldn’t find my vein on my arm, a problem I have NEVER had before, and I confirmed several times that I had consume a significant amount of water because I knew I was going in for a blood donation. I explained that I have a 1-year old at home and getting away for even a few hours for a blood donation is not an easy feat, so I encouraged her to try my other arm, which she declined to do. Her response was “I hope you can come back”. I was really looking forward to this donation since I tested positive for Covid antibodies and I know that my blood can help others, but this was a terrible experience and I will NOT BE GOING BACK to the Paramus donation center. That location has really gone down in quality over the years, and definitely not for the better.

Nice people working there. Wish the process was faster especially for repeat donors. Website needs an update

I had scheduled an appointment prior to coming into the office. The staff was polite and helpful but I was told I didn’t qualify to donate blood due to the risk of a disease because I had traveled outside the U.S. about two months ago. The nurse didn’t seem very familiar with the process, she even asked me questions that got me like “really” you should know the answer to that. Anyway, the location of the place I visited two months ago doesn’t have anything to do with the location she’d showed me on the map of the Country I visited. My suggestion is: make sure you know your facts before you tell people what’s right and what’s not!!!

I haven’t been to CBS since they moved to this new location, and I have to say that it’s a big improvement. I went on a Wednesday night during their extended hours. The staff was friendly, and the process didn’t last any longer than I thought it would. The snacks were also pretty neat at the end! Yummy cookies.
