My experience was with a mobile blood drive, but I overheard them mention they came from the Montvale branch. First off, I had scheduled an appointment for 5:30 but their intake was painfully slow and the fact that I had made an appointment made zero difference. I waited about 20-25 minutes for my turn and then discovered that the online questionnaire that I had done hadn’t been saved because it wasn’t properly optimized for mobile and my ADD brain hadn’t realized that I needed to scroll down and click the tiny camouflaged button. Frustrating, but partially my bad, so I filled it out again. I finally sit down for the health screening about 45 minutes after I got there. The guy asks for my covid vaccine record and I pull up a picture of my card, but it only contains my booster, so he asks for my previous card. I don’t have it, I lost it a year and a half ago, and there are no digital records that I can access. He tells me he needs it, at which point I say, ok, I’m going home, and got up and left. If you are going to demand documents that I don’t have and can’t get, do me the courtesy of at least including it in the fine print so I know not to waste my time. The email I received stated only ID was required, and a donor card if relevant. Donating blood is so important, I myself received blood a few years ago and try to give back, so I will be going to New York Blood Center tomorrow. I only went to this drive because it was close to my house but NYBC is well worth the 15 minute drive in comparison to the experience I had today.

Very rude and incompetent! I went to donate plasma and the woman at the front desk commented that I don’t look like I weigh enough and asked if I ate that morning. I told her I’ve already donated plasma through NY Blood Center and most definitely weigh enough. When she weighed me she even yelled my weight across the room and said I weigh enough to her coworkers. I should have left then but I had a great 1st experience with NY Blood Center donating and knew my plasma was in need. I don’t know what happened once I was hooked up to donate but they couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working for me. After several adjustments were made and still no luck a third nurse was called in to help and told them to take out the needle. She commented that I should have been hooked up to other plasma machines they had there. Never again will I go back. My next plasma donation will be back at NY Blood Center.

I recovered from Covid-19 so I wanted to donate plasma in order to possibly help others. I originally went to the Paramus center and they are THE WORST, so I tried to Montvale center hoping for better results. It was a good overall experience, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. This was a much, much better experience than Paramus; I will go back here again.
