I donated platelets and plasma yesterday, and both Laura and Samantha took excellent care with instructions, walking me through every step of the donation, and checking on me since it was my first successful apheresis after two failed attempts. I will be using this location whenever possible.

After 2020, Vitalant was calling me nearly daily begging for blood donations saying that they were short donors due to the pandemic. I wanted to help, so I went and donated twice in 2021. Shortly after donating, I became very short of breath and I could barely speak after walking up stairs (I am in my 30s). I found out I had developed iron deficiency anemia. Iron pills did not bring up my iron effectively, so now I need to spend over $2000 to receive iron infusions.

I’ve been a blood donor for over 30 years and had the absolute worst blood donation experience at the Vitalant Littleton location today. The phlebotomist didn’t even know how to put on the blood pressure cuff. When he inserted the needle he did it at a painful angle with limited blood flow. I had to call on a more experienced staff member to realign the needle. It was painful and blood ran down my arm on to the chair arm rest. He obviously wasn’t well trained. And I wasn’t told he was a newbie when he started working on me. I’ve donated more than 12 gallons over 30 years and am seriously thinking about no longer donating. Vitalant has been degrading in its professionalism and I don’t know what they plan on doing to make things better. Their web-site is only partially functional and very user unfriendly.

My wife and I attempted to donate. She is not a native English speaker and so needed help with questionnaire. Staff was very intrusive and twice interrupted us telling us that I could not fill it out for her. Of course I wasn’t, I was just helping my wife.

I donate regularly and have never had a bad experience here, including the quality of the draw itself. I have never had a bruise or bad poke. Everyone has always been courteous and helpful.

If you are dyslexic or have any trouble reading do not go here! Staff was very rude and condescending.

Apparently they change people around to take blood, which makes me super sad because this experience donating platelets was amazing. Friendly people with the best positive, outgoing attitude I’ve ever witnessed donating blood.. and I was there for 2.5 hours, so I know it wasn’t faked! Elayna and Steven especially made that time fly by. I wouldn’t ever miss a donation if I knew I’d be coming into these guys. I wish we could follow them for their donation locations . Steven made the experience painless. I felt nothing, no burning, no pain while the machine was taking the good stuff from my veins. That rarely happens. Thanks guys! I also submitted kudos to you guys via Vitalent themselves!

There’s so many ads for an emergency shortage for blood right now. I made an appointment for 6pm and was late because of traffic. Even though the website showed a 6:45pm appointment available, I was rudely turned away so they could close. So much for their “emergency need”.

Vampires. They sell your blood and it drives the medical system even higher. Go to children’s hospital Denver and donate blood directly.

At the time of my review, there are two 1 star and two 5 star reviews, which I often feel is a sign of fake positive reviews, but I would say in this case, that’s pretty accurate. In our group donating here, we had 50/50 positive and negative experiences and it was pretty clear one way or the other. 3 of 4 of us had appointments. The 4th that didn’t have an appointment tried to get one, but the appointment was filled while he was booking, he tried calling numerous times but no one picked up and then came and asked for a walk-in and his O- blood was denied, but then two men walked in right afterwards for walk-in appointments and were graciously accepted. I came in for my appointment while these gentlemen were being helped and did mine and my husband’s paperwork on my phone. I was never asked to sign in or acknowledged, but I was able to speak up and get assistance check us in and get the appointment rolling after a bit of waiting and trying to get someone’s attention. When it was time to actually get my blood drawn, I told the phlebotomist that I have been told I have traveling veins and they can move and be a bit tricky. She rolled my vein right after that and I ended up with a large swollen arm full of blood. The picture is from three days after the event… it’s getting better and I heal quickly, but my experience was 1 star, worst donation experience. Steve did a great job with my husband and he says it was the best donation experience he had. My friend that recommended the place has been here many times and said it was a bit hit or miss, but overall positive experience for her. I personally miss red cross in the mid-west, looks like Vitalant is the only place to donate blood out here and I’m not planning on returning anytime soon.
