Not a fan. In the past, they lost a bunch of reservations along with mine and wouldn’t make any scheduling accommodations to account for their mistake. Basically treated us like walk-ins. They’re a nonprofit yet they sell your blood for hundreds of dollars per unit. Their CEO made over $1M salary last year. Never mind his deferred comp. Give to Children’s Hospital Mobile Blood Drive instead. They’re convenient; they’re faster; their techs are better; they make you fill out less paper work; and they donate the blood to the patients. Also, consider writing your congress person to change the law so that the blood donor isn’t the only one in the pipeline who can’t be legally paid. The current law creates artificial scarcity.

My husband went in to donation and stated several times that he did not want to donate more than a “double”. Without his consent, they took a “triple” and red blood cells. Now he is feeling very poorly and will likely have a terrible weekend. This place is dangerous to your health and they will lie to steal your blood. Don’t go here. I am planning to complain to the State.

Gave blood here today and everyone was super nice and it felt like a fun and welcoming environment. More important the woman who drew blood did a fantastic job!

I got a call from them that my O- blood is in high demand. So I scheduled an appointment and showed up on time. They made me wait 20 minutes before screening me where my first BP reading ran high, so I realized that I was shallow-breathing bc of allergy-induced asthma. I communicated that and asked them to take my BP again while I fixed my posture and purposely breathed. Sure enough my BP dropped 10/10, so I thought I was good to go, but the tech red-zoned on the word “asthma”. She started asking me a bunch of personal medical questions while sharing her own unrelated medical experiences to support her idea that I was unfit to give blood. I called it out, and said, look, if I hadn’t said the word “asthma” I’d be in there right now giving blood. I’m fine. None of my readings are disqualifying. She then patronizingly explained to me that I don’t know how I feel. And then called in the team lead. If, when I requested a new BP reading, she would have said something like, “Sorry, can’t let you donate today. One high BP reading makes you ineligible. Plus your statement about a recent asthma event is disqualifying. Come back tomorrow.” Or even answered honestly, “Yes, if you had just asked for another BP reading without the asthma-event reference, then you would indeed be donating right now. But that’s not what you did.” Then I’d be irritated about wasting my time but fine. But that’s not how it went down. I was patronized and belittled. It was a horrible experience that wasted over an hour of my day. Never mind that the subjective part of their screening protocols ruled out a perfectly safe donation of a unit of O- blood.

Apparently they don’t want your donation at the Highlands Ranch location. I went to do a walk in on a Friday at 11:40. There was nobody in the waiting area, no one currently giving blood, and one person giving plasma. The techs were sitting around talking with the receptionist. However, receptionist told me they couldn’t get me in and I had to schedule an appointment for the next week. After asking several more times (in different ways) if there was any way to get me in today, and mentioning that I am O negative (always needed), the answer was still no. I then tried going to another location to give and they were actually busy with all chairs full and people waiting. Sorry it’s an inconvenience to do a walk in, but if you really want blood (especially O-) you’d make a way.

The woman working the front desk was anything but pleasant. As a “medical professional” she needs to choose a new profession. She made us feel very unwelcome and as if we were an inconvenience. She was very short and abrupt when answering any questions anyone had. She needs to remember she is working with human beings not robots! Another patient walked out because she was so rude! At a time where plasma is in such high demand you would think the staff would be a little more polite.

The women that work here are extremely nice! They don’t just hook you up and kick you out, they talk with you and make sure you are comfortable. If you are looking for the best blood donation center in the area, look no further!

Older woman working front desk is extremely rude. Will treat you like your donation doesn’t mean a thing. Very unpleasant for no reason at all.

I used to donate here regularly back when it was Bonfils. Everyone was always so friendly and welcoming and thanked you for your donation multiple times. Due to pregnancy and then breastfeeding, it had been a while since I’d been here until today. Completely different experience. The receptionist looked at me like I was in the wrong place or doing something wrong when I walked in and said I don’t have an appointment but I’d like to donate. Then she asked me if I was expecting to be paid for my donation. Don’t know what that was about. Then two staff members talked to each other about how I can’t have my child with me while I donate. This I totally understand but I was unaware because this is the first time I’ve tried to donate since he was born. I left feeling like I had been basically kicked out and it makes me not really want to go back here. I feel like the staff could have handled the situation differently and should be more friendly to potential donors.
