I would give this organization a negative rating if I could. They do not have a culture of safety and put patients at risk needlessly. I am a physician who made the mistake of donating blood with this organization. The phlebotomist broke his skin with the needle, then put the needle into my forearm and then claimed that he did not notice. It took this organization 15 days to notify me of this incident. When I called this to the attention of the physician supervisors, they did not seem to take this seriously and believed the story that needle stick was not noticed. The employee then changed his story to “it was a scrape.” He allegedly reported it to the physician supervisor but I have no evidence of this. A prudent physician would have contacted the patient immediately. I am a physician who performs procedures with needles all the time. I know very well when I have needle contact of any kind. If there is any doubt, I do not put the needle back into the patient. I also immediately notify the patient, stop all work and comply with all policies and procedures. I would never wait 15 days to notify a patient. This organization did not follow property safety procedures. I recommend that you avoid this organization like the plague. I am concerned that they may harm many other people. Do not donate any blood or money to this organization. Blood donations are desperately needed as they save lives. Give to the Red Cross but avoid this organization as they do not seem to care about patient safety.
