I have donated at this location many different times (6) and each time the level of professionalism of the staff is inappropriate. At my most recent donation, the health history nurse was swearing and complaining about how tired they were. When it was time for the needle the nurse said “I think there’s a vein there, but I’m not sure.” This made me tense and worried throughout the donation. Not everyone can handle the power red machine and I am one of those people but the needle poke did not have a good line to begin with and I had to end the donation early which was upsetting. The nurses gave me attitude when I said that it was more painful than usual. I will not be donating at this location again.

Honestly had a great time. The staff is like a big family. Maybe it’s just the lack of blood or the fact my bff is here but honestly this was the most fun I’ve had all week.

I have donated many times at the Perinton Red Cross satellite center and have generally had a good experience with the donation itself. However, although they encourage you to make appointments, they tend to ignore those appointments and give you no priority when you arrive. There were multiple times that I arrived for my appointment just after a group of walk-ins had arrived, and I was made to wait while the walk-ins donated first, sometimes adding a 40 minute delay to my appointment. I complained at Perinton and was told that an appointment was really just a reminder to donate, not truly an appointment. I complained to the Red Cross central organization and was told that appointments are supposed to prioritize you in front of walk-ins. Nothing changed after I complained, so I stopped donating at Perinton and started donating at Strong Hospital when they have their monthly blood drives. At Strong the Red Cross gives you a certificate for free parking in the garage, are staffed so that there are no delays, and they usually provide you with a thank-you gift of a free movie ticket. Perinton is convenient, but Strong is much more efficient.
