A very Positive Experience. Very friendly people to deal with that asked questions and kept me and my wife moving through the process. We are RV travelers and saw an ad on the local TV looking for donors. So we signed up on line and selected a time to donate. The online process went very smoothly. Got to the center early to finish the process and they were able to fit us in early. The checking and qualification was easy with a very nice gentleman asking the information and preparing the necessary forms and items. I have no issues with giving blood and we have given in several states over the years as well as home in Wisconsin. This is a simple way to help your fellow human beings. The cookies and drinks were good too. Great Job OBI.

I had the best experience here today. Before this, I’d only donated once and I nearly passed out then. I wanted to try it again because I love the idea of helping others. Everyone who assisted me today did everything they possibly could to make me comfortable and happy. Justin is the awesome employee who drew my blood, he showed a ton of compassion and kept making sure I was okay through the whole process. The lobby is also very pleasant and nice. Would recommend! (South Okc location)

I have given blood here several times and I have given in various locations through OBI blood drives. In fact, I just finished donating out in Yukon, OK. I have always had great experiences with OBI. I happily donate whenever I can. O+ rules!

Donating platelets (and blood) saves lives. The process of donating platelets takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. While there is no monetary compensation, you do get the great satisfaction of helping a cancer patient or NICU baby. I do it whenever I have the chance. Highly recommend anyone willing to donate their time to please consider being a platelet doner. Eat plenty of high iron foods before donating (red meat, broccoli).

I am happy to donate my blood to help others, but will find a different location next time. I’m volunteering time to come in and was treated like I was bothering them They were surly at best. I have good veins but stuck me twice. It is stressful to donate so why not decrease the anxiety by being friendly. It could instill confidence.

I’ve been a regular donor at OBI, especially at this location, for several years now. In the past, I’ve always had a positive experience after each visit. Today (Jan 9th) was extremely different. Everyone was nice and decent, except for the black lady wearing a short yellow jacket, whose attitude was horrible and so unprofessional. She was resposible for running through my information (checking my blood pressure, history, etc.). When I handed her my ID, she looked at my face up and down with various negative expressions like she was so disturbed by my presence somehow, and she looked visibly very annoyed when she had to run through the questions on the computer screen with me, as if someone’s forcing her to do it against her will. Her aggressiveness really bothered me, and the 15 mins I spent in the room with her was the first time I’ve ever felt so disrespected and treated as a burden (Excuse me, but I’m here to donate blood, not to ask for her handouts) like this in my entire life. She didn’t even try to hide it! When she walked me to the area where they draw blood, she didn’t even care to say where I was gonna sit. She asked whether if I wanna do my right or left hand, but I misheard and thought she asked if I wanna sit on the left or right chair, so I said “Right here”. Then, she irritatedly repeated the question, to which I said “right”! At this point, I was really, really upset. I didn’t come here to be treated like this, it’s absolutely dreadful and unprofessional! A friend of hers, who’s working as a nurse, saw that and even said “Girl, you’re scary!” Then, they got together and began chit-chatting, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I don’t know what they were talking about, but I’m sure she was complaining about me to her friend. After what I’ve been through today, I would never return here to donate anything! Like, seriously, donors take out a part of their time to come here and donate their own blood, why can’t you just be friendly to them? I really hope her manager will discipline her because her attitude was extremely unacceptable!

The staff at this location are friendly and professional.. I had Kallie today she did an amazing job didn’t feel the poke. All them really are gentle and I’ve had good experiences at this location. Blood drives are another story with OBI..however I will always donate at this location..

Went to a blood drive at my child’s school. Their staff is not qualified to be sticking people I was extremely disappointed, I have donated every year at their drives for the past six years and before that many other locations. I have a rare blood type. However today I got turned down because they just didn’t feel like putting that extra min to help with my vein. I’ve never experienced them turning me away before nor have I ever had issues with my veins. I drink plenty of water. But apparently they were in a rush to leave since my appointment was one of the last ones. Not sure if I’d be willing to take my time again and not be able to donate. At least I brought 2 other people with me that were able to donate but they should take their time with people and if you can’t stick someone then your in the wrong field.

I’ve been going here almost monthly due to a blood issue. This place is amazing! Everyone is so friendly and they explain every step, even though I could recite it myself by this point. Only issue is traffic trying to leave in the afternoon. I’ve been to other OBI sites that are closer to me but I always come back to Lincoln.

I fear needles and usually faint from getting blood drawn at doctor’s offices. After passing out countless times in the past, I’m now able to tell the phlebotomist when I feel it coming on so they can make sure I don’t fall out of the chair. I went to OBI to face my fear and donate at least once in my life. I informed an intake lady my situation so she goes and tells the phlebotomist (they don’t know they’re standing in front of my fiancé who hears everything). The phlebotomist expressed how I was going to be an inconvenience to her and I could see her flailing her arms from afar and pouting about it. After starting the blood draw, when people approached her or asked for help, she would loudly tell everyone that she has to keep an eye on me in case I faint. I am confident that everyone in the room heard her each time because all eyes were on me, patients and employees. There was no respect of my privacy and fear. I’m even more terrified of donating now. There’s more to this story but I just wanted to share that how humiliated and uncomfortable I was the entire time I was there. I only continued to donate because I was committed to help someone in need of my blood. I will never be back to OBI but I can only hope they learn to be more professional and respectful.
