I am not a donor or an employee, but a mother of an employee. Their attendance policy punishes employees for thing that are beyond their control. They do not accept doctor’s notes and if your sick, the weather is bad or you get caught in traffic then you receive “attendance points” If for some reason they get 4 points then they get a written notice. This is the most ridiculous policy I have ever heard of. Good employees are leaving because of the way they are treated. Something needs to change.

On July 29th 2022 from 6:51am to 7:08am I was calling back to back to the Octapharma on 2101 S Decatur Blvd. The one time they did answer the woman had an attitude from the start. All I asked was if I could donate today and she asked for my birthday only(they can’t look me up unless they have my name too) then said hold on and put me back on hold for another 5 mins. I hung up and called again and that’s when she answered a second and final time and yelled into the phone”YOUR ELIGIBILE” and then proceeded to put me back on hold. I then called several more times to speak with a manager but no answer.

It should not take returning donors 3+ hours to donate. The Sumter office is slow. The octapass doesn’t make the process shorter. I’m assuming that only the unemployed can donate, considering the wait time. The entire staff needs to be replaced because there is no drive within them. It should only take 2 hours for new donors and 1 hour for returning donors. I should be offered water and a snack if staying longer than advertised. And they lock the door early…claiming the time is different in the lab, disregarding the clock located at the front (where they work).

Your location on state ave in kansas city ks is the absolute worst donation place I’ve ever been to. There is always a one to 2 hour wait just to get stuck. Staff is rude as hell. They think they can say whatever they want and people just have to take it. Management is non existent. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Stay as far away as you can. Your better off going anywhere but here.

Now they have octapass, allowing people to fill out the donation question are online, which makes the process so much faster.

I have had a great experience for my first 2 times. They show so much care. The first time I got really sick about the third time the machine was pulling blood out. It happened so fast but I ended up having 3 of the phlebotomists on me. I must have looked awful but they fixed me right up and I was able to finish. The second time I was in and in about an hour. Andrew was great and Emily was so good that when she took the needle out it didn’t hurt. It was fabulous and I’m a sensitive person so that says a lot!! I go for my third visit tomorrow morning.

DO NOT GO TO THE FIFE LOCATION! I went in on July 24. This was my second time donating. They put it it my left arm and it kept stopping. Instead of stopping the donation process the just kept jiggling the IV. Turns out it wasn’t returning blood like it should have been. Then they switched it to my right arm for the saline portion. My arm started to swell up and I was in pain. The IV was infiltrated so the saline was going into the tissue not the vein. When I let them know something was wrong the girl said she’d be with me when she was done with someone else. So they left me in pain and agony. Finally the nurse came. She was extremely nice and caring. She made sure I was ok before I went out to the car. I ended up passing out. Luckily my daughter was driving. Octapharma called 911 and I ended up spending the night in the hospital. A huge portion of my arm was black and blue. Even after two weeks it is bruised and hurts. There are other plasma donation centers. I contacted donor relations who just passed it back to the site manager. He was there when this all happened! He was full of excuses and didn’t seem interested in what his staff could have done differently. The person I wanted to talk to is his boss. Corporate needs to be aware of how they are treating donors. Just another number in their eyes.

On contrary to the two negative reviews posted before me (one 2 years ago and another about 3 weeks ago). I actually enjoyed it there for the most part. Me being 18, it was kinda nice being there. I was chatting with a 19 yr. old girl from college who was donating plasma right beside me while I was also donating. The staff there were nice to me. I was on my phone for most of the process and even though it took a little while to sign up for being a first time donor there, it was definitely worth it. The only thing that did bother me though is that one of the rules at Octapharma Plasma is no loitering out from of the building. Problem was that there were many people (8-12 people or so) loitering out there when we got there. Besides the loitering, there was many people to chat with and the experience was great overall. Definitely going back weekly!

DISGUSTING place… I worked at the Garden Grove, CA location for 3 very very long months… what a waste of time. The management is a total joke. Joan Lepman is one of the nurses there are she is nauseatingly RUDE to everyone, from donors to employees to management…. she is AWFUL. The management is more than ridiculous…. Irving Wall is the “center director” – he goes out to his car several times a day and SLEEPS for hours in the car…. it is such a joke. Corporate nonsense rules and what a shame because some people actually NEED plasma for medical conditions. Corporate and the state inspectors should look into this place… AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL !!!!!!!! I have a REAL JOB now.

Milton Rd location is great. The staff is always friendly and courteous towards the donors. Ricky Craig usually sticks me when I go and I’ve never had a problem. Very professional with his job.
