The reviews I just read can’t POSSIBLY be for the Octapharma in Norfolk! Slow, slow, and more slow. Plan a good three hours. No one works there. At times, there is NO ONE doing intake. If there’s a person there, she leaves to go help on the floor and comes back when she comes back. 15 people in line? So what, she’ll be back when she gets back. You see two intake cubicles open? One’s empty or about to be, I guarantee it. Plan to stand for a good hour or more, usually 90 mins for me in the afternoon or evening. If you don’t see 10 people seated waiting for a bed, there are 10 in beds waiting to be stuck. Plan for a good, solid three hours if there’s anywhere else you need to be because you’re going to be sorely disappointed otherwise.

I’d been thinking about donating plasma for a while now, but I never actually followed through. Then one of my friends told me she donated plasma, twice a week and she got paid pretty well for it too. She told me it only took about an hour and she was paid right away, on a card they gave her. So I decided to pull the trigger and go ahead and just donate. The first visit takes a few hours, because of the screenings, forms, and questionnaires. Then every visit after, it’s only about an hour total. I was pleasantly surprised how clean the facility is and how kind and knowledge the staff are. Everyone is very pleasant yet professional. Honestly, it’s the easiest money I’ve ever made.

In the 8 months I have donated here, they have dropped donor pay twice. It has gotten busier at this location and yet, some mornings I come in and there is only one employee on the floor. I know a lot of the employees have left when they did not get a raise. I was hoping our pay was being lowered to increase their employees pay to keep the staff. Apparently not. Staff and clients are still incredibly friendly.

This is by far the slowest and least professional Octapharma. The building is old and the phlebotomist are least enthusiastic and slow paced with calling donors, getting them hooked up and released from the machines. One answered a phone call about lunch while taking my blood pressure. They could learn ALOT from the Newtown location. Nobody wants to be stuck here all day.

Great management and staff always smiling and very eager to help each other out. I wish the pay was better because I have to Uber there and back and it costs me $15 each way.

The girl Brittany, the African dude with the fade(gabby), and the like 5’7-5-8 Caucasian guy with the dark hair who helps in the front always do great jobs. They really go the extra mile for people here and make us feel welcome. Yall the real dream team lol.
