Founded in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its operating divisions Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 75 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD, VA), Missouri and Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England.

My wife and I gave blood here and it was a great experience. We set up our appointments online which was very easy with a user friendly website. Once we go there we filled out the questionnaire, had the medical check and gave our blood very quickly. Everyone that worked there was very nice. Our appointment was for 915 and we were out by 10. Great job.

My first experience here was nothing short of terrific. I made an appointment and was taken right at my appointment time. The staff were super friendly and kind. The next time I made an appointment I arrived on time and was informed that they “were full” and I needed to wait in my car to be called on my cell phone. I waited 40 minutes in my car and approximately another 40 inside before I walked out without donating. Hit or miss perhaps, but I’m not sure I will be returning to that location anytime soon.

I have attempted to donate blood at this location 3 times. 3 times I have been refused. Today I entered at 2:30pm they close at 5pm. I was turned away because they were not taking any more donors at that time. When I looked inside all I saw was workers standing around. If collecting blood is not your priority what is? I will NEVER come back to donate.
