Founded in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its operating divisions Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 75 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD, VA), Missouri and Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England.

I had a great experience here when I dropped in on a whim while running errands. Everyone was polite and there were no issues or slow downs whatsoever with the process. I was pretty much in and out in about 40 minutes or so and I’m looking forward to donating again.

a highly reputable donor center. i am always treated with respect. the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. they are friendly, experienced, diligent, safe, kind, gentle, accommodating, grateful, and more. i donate blood fairly frequently and it is always an easy and pleasant process. last night i donated platelets, so i was there for almost 3 hours from entering to leaving. i was given clear instructions, was given 2 snacks and 2 drinks, a blanket, a hot water bottle to squeeze. was thanked numerous times for my donation. zaib was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. they have eased my fear of donating platelets and i would do it again.

This donor based system is so exploitative it’s obscene. Your generous donation fetched them thousands of dollars. You could literally make a living donating platelets regularly but they’re going to deny you that luxury because it’s “better” to be generous. Even their rewards system is petty. And the fact that platelets have been an upper tier export in the USA. This is ridiculous

Went out of my way to schedule an appointment to donate blood, drove twenty minutes each way, only to be turned away at the door because the man at the door insisted I was running a fever. Two different readings on their part that were a degree and a half different based on how they were holding the thermometer.

I have been coming to the Melville location for over 5 years, about every 120 days for the Alyx machine, and I have never experienced anything but professional, courteous, friendly, helpful and kind people working there. The bad reviews are the work of miserable people who would not be happy with a lamb under one arm and a loaf of bread under the other. Teresa was especially wonderful today. See you in 120.

I have been donating at this center & this center only for the better part of 10 years I try my best to donate a double unit of platelets + a unit of plasma as often as possible which is over a 2 hour+ procedure! Giving blood is 15-20 min & your done! and I have NEVER had anything but a absolute pleasant experience never had a problem with the needle stick always perfect & painless every time and if you have ever donated platelets its NOT A SMALL NEEDLE ITS ABOUT 5 TIMES THE SIZE OF A NEEDLE WHEN YOU GIVE BLOOD! the staff is so courteous & seem so grateful for my platelets that if I was allowed to go everyday I would!!! I’m reading these negative posts & cannot even begin to imagine what they are referring to I’m going Tom am for what I believe is gona be my 50th!! Platelet donation and NOT ONCE DID I EVER LEAVE THERE FEELING LIKE I WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE WORLD!!! So if your considering donating please ignore the negative posts I assure you it will be a great experience!
