I’ve read prior reviews before my arrival and first off I met my greeter with an abrupt disposition. I didn’t have to talk to her again until saying goodbye. Not necessarily mean or disrespectful but very rough. Everything else about my visit was exemplary. Even the volunteer making coffee was a doll to talk to post donation. I visited on a Tuesday morning with a scheduled appointment and sat down right away at a questionnaire desktop. Screened for iron and blood pressure quickly, then hooked up for donation in one of plenty available chairs. The vampires were kind and attentive.

Was doing that for the first time. Everything went smooth, the stuff was friendly. Hope I’ll gonna come next time))

I AM
Unfriendly. Almost every person who worked there had this somber-depressed-irritating look on their faces(which could be interpreted as rude). You’d think for a blood donation center the employees would be more welcoming; otherwise donors, like myself, will never go there again – and with a diminished volume the new york blood center management board would find it wise to shut down and relocate or invest in areas where less complaints of employee rudeness are reported and higher volume of donors visit.

It depends on the nurse that’s assisting you. You would think they would have a nicer attitude but it’s really a hit or miss. The nurse that does the blood drives from various location are much nicer and friendlier. The reason I didn’t give it 2 stars is because you do get free snacks (cookies/sugar free, popcorners, pretzels) beverage (hot cocoa, coffee, teas) all these have different flavors from exotic to boring, also they do have juice and water. That is the only worthwhile thing there since some of the nurses can treat you with a not so welcoming attitude. Then again I think it’s a management/culture issue since I’m sure they are always in their back talking about blood shortage and then not performing when the pay isn’t increasing (typical non profit drama/issue)

Medical facilities charge patients for transfusions so why shouldn’t the people donating be compensated for their time and effort? I have O negative CMV negative blood (highly sought after) but im not just going to give it away. I don’t get anything for free in this world, so I don’t give anything for free either.

Place is always clean. It may take a minute for the staff to warm up to you, but if you are polite and smile they return the same.

I have donated here before, it’s fine, but it is currently being renovated. It’s not open as of November 1 2018. Don’t know when it will reopen.

Bad location and if you use them once you get a lot of calls. Also, the animal cruelty case against the charity makes for sad reading. Avoid at all costs.
