Founded in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its operating divisions Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 75 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD, VA), Missouri and Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England.

Friendly staff. The process is quite easy to donate whole blood . Maybe 30-45 minutes for visit. Platelet donations are longer in upwards of two hours. There is always a need for blood— especially during the pandemic. After donation enjoy a snack or two. Highly recommend donating — it might save a life .

The blood tech didn’t put the needle in correctly that they had to stop without the bag filling up, I wasted my time donating and it was disappointing because the bag won’t be used. It was a Spanish lady she was nice but I would not let her stick me ever because I was looking forward to donate. Other times I went it was successful but she didn’t draw my blood correctly.

Everyone is very nice here. They are always professional and efficient. The blood techs know how to insert a needle without hurting you. When I gave at the hospital, it hurt and I was bruised for over a week. This place never causes me any pain and I’m in and out quickly (unless I’m donating platelets).

Courteous staffs and professional. Made an appointment online two days prior No wait.well, except for the actual 120 minutes for platelets pheresis. Donated triple units platelets each month with no issues.

Good place to donate blood. It’s a clean environment but some of the staff is less then professional. One employee kept shouting about how her boyfriend finally answered a text message from the previous night. Another woman was singing (pretty loudly) Prince’ “Purple rain”
