Founded in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its operating divisions Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 75 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD, VA), Missouri and Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England.

I have been donating Platelets at New York Blood Center in Lake Success and also Huntington Long Island 11 times in 2021 since July. Platelets are part of the blood that helps with clotting post surgical. Platelets only last 5 days for use. The NYBC has contacted me several times about Blood emergencies in 2021. The people at these locations could not have been more professional concerned or friendly. They do keep an eye on everything . I will continue to give as often as possible. Yes the Pandemic has people nervous but the staff here is very good at safety and cleaning between donors.

I donated a few times at this location and never had any issues. I had to make an online appointment each time and waited for about 10-15 minutes upon arrival, which is quite understandable. The staff is quite friendly and very fast to respond to nonstandard situations. I witnessed another donor fainting after donating, and the team took care of them within the next 5 seconds providing excellent and prompt patient care!
