Founded in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its operating divisions Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 75 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD, VA), Missouri and Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England.

Gay, Bi & Queer men, beware! They have not updated their questionnaire per the FDA’s most recent guidelines for MSM’s eligibility to donate. They were incredibly rude & turned me away, despite being in a purely monogamous relationship for over a year. They told me “not to take it personally” and to “come back when I’ve abstained for 3 months.” I even had the FDA’s guidelines pulled up on my phone and they told me they didn’t care. Go anywhere else to donate blood. They clearly hate more than they want to help.

Staffs were very nice. They are friendly and helpful. Whole blood donation process took around 1 hour, which is normal. They gave me snacks and juice at the end.
