I’ve been a platelet donor for two decades, and never found anywhere as welcoming, competent, affirming, fun, or professional as this donation center. They’re the quickest to update to meet FDA requirements and shape whatever is in their power to be compassionate and informed while ensuring that recipients of our blood products are as safe as possible. They stand head and shoulders over other blood drives or centers that do apheresis, though the Inova center down in Centerville is a close second. The fact that both Inova centers locally blow the Red Cross away in staff, equipment, policy, and environment is amazing to me, and I do totally respect the Red Cross and am happy to support them . . . But given the choice I’d jump at the chance to donate via the screeners/staff/phlebotomists at Inova every time.

I have been coming here for years, had an awesome experience today. The guys working here are outstanding individuals, professional, and skilled. Thank you all so much for helping me help others today!! It is such a rewarding thing to do knowing you’re helping others and I’m grateful that I am able to donate. I highly recommend this location if you want to donate blood and save lives.

I stopped by this location to donate blood last week. My prior experiences there many years ago were all positive, however it appears things have changed dramatically.

This was my first time donating blood and I found it quite easy at Inova. The employees were friendly and answered all my stupid questions with a smile. My phlebotomist, Jackie, was gentle and calm. The facility is an open floor design, which may be off putting to some people that may be expecting more privacy. They have nice clean restrooms and snack bar area with an array of junk food water, juice and coffee. Overall it was a simple and pleasant visit. I certainly plan on donating here again and recommend others do as well.

Unclean, unsafe, Rude staff. Don’t work with Jan! I’ve donated several times here. It’s never a great experience. Despite inova begging for donors the staff here acts like you are interrupting their day, or that they are doing you a favor by being there. People are taking time out of their day to help out, the least you can do is acknowledge them and make them comfortable. I made an appointment yesterday after receiving not fewer than 20 messages requesting I come in. I finished the online questionnaire and noted that I had recently received 2 vaccinations. There was no indication that I could be deferred, or I would have canceled. When I arrived following a 30 minute drive,

Not sure what a “bad” blood donation would look like but this place had lots of good snacks and drinks after you give blood.

I’ve come to donate blood here many times and every time I’ve had a hard time with the staff. They treat me poorly and string me along when I try to donate, and at this point I don’t even want to donate blood because of my experiences with this location. My intention is to help people in need but the staff make it insufferable. Poor interactions with most of the staff.

This is a great donation center. I have yet to meet anyone here who didn’t have a smile to share. They celebrate every holiday and really try hard to make it special with special treats and giveaways. Their social media person is great at updating donors through fb of critical needs which is a gentle reminder to make an appointment!

Do not use Teresa M. as your phlebotomist. First let me say that I have been a blood donor for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience anywhere before today. Theresa had a hard time finding a vein. When she did she bound my arm with the rubber tourniquet so tightly that my arm turned blue. I told her it was too tight and very painful but she persisted. She then proceeded to forcefully jab my arm with the needle so hard I screamed and told her to take it out. She then told me I couldn’t donate even with my other arm or a different phlebotomist. I now have a quarter-sized bruise on my arm. I asked how long she had been doing this and she deflected the question by saying she had done this many times before. Her general attitude was condescending, incredulous, unprofessional and downright rude. Beware. Otherwise the reception and information intake staff were professional and polite.

I went to donate blood on Tuesday 1/28/2020, it was not a pleasant experience whatsoever. I have donated at the Dulles location many times before but Tuesday was awful.
