Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938, and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors at our blood drives and in our Neighborhood Donation Centers located in Anderson, Blue Ash, Central, Ft. I donated before had no trouble finding a vein. I got a new girl today. I could tell she was new. I ask her how we got AB blood. She said she didn’t know but she’s a phlebotomist. She told me not to “ chit chat”. I’m 68. I never thought I was a chit chatter. She couldn’t find a vein? Nobody said, but I think because she was new. The trip I made there was a waste of time and gas on my end. The rest of my day went bad too. She said I can come back in two days, try again, handed me a paper and that was it. The end. I think they should have explained, say we were unable to get blood today, but thank you for coming in. That would have been nice. From what happened, I don’t think they care. I won’t go back. They don’t care about ya.

Just started donating blood since a law prevented me from do so in the past because I was born in Germany. Both times, I had great experiences. The staff is very professional and very personable. The front desk, the screeners, and the people taking the blood are all such kind and wonderful people. I will continue to try and help make a difference for people in need and I won’t bother changing to a different location any time soon!

I’ve been donating for years. I’ve been to a couple different donation centers and this one I like the best but they’re all really good. Also send me another enamel pin. I don’t want money I don’t want t-shirts for my donations. I don’t want anything but one time you guys sent me a beautiful enamel pin in the mail and I wore it all the time till I lost it. So if you got any more of them blood drop enamel pins with the gold outlining hook a donor up.

After today’s experience, I’m not sure I’ll continue to be a regular donator. I’m a regular who struggles with my hematocrit being low. I come every 2 weeks. Today I came with my middle school age kids in the car. I sign in and sit down. 2 people check in before I ever get checked in. I’m assured I would go back in the right order and have my hematocrit checked right away. Instead I sit through THREE people screened before me , finally get screened and my hematocrit was too low. Inexcusable and I was only offered a half hearted apology for my frustrations. Not sure I’ll keep trying.

Very kind and professional people. They took all necessary precessional to ensure my privacy was protected. The phlebotomist was able to hit my vein with one try and very little pain. She was very friendly so I felt comfortable while donating. I’ll be donations here again when I am eligible.
