Please donate your item to the Veterans instead. Goodwill doesn’t “help” people

Due to frustrating, unacceptable service, we have avoided the Acworth location for a few years. Fortunately for us, we decided to visit this location again. It is a close drive, and we hoped for decent service.

I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but DON’T GO HERE!!! We visited this location in 3 times in 2020. Upon arrival, we were yelled at to put on masks. I had just stepped out of our car to make sure that when we backed up, that we weren’t too close to the curb. They lady helping was extremely over the top rude and picked though our items not accepting a lot of nice things. Like nice lamps that were 5 years old, a small dresser and nice pictures in frames about 5 years old. Tastes change and these items were practically in brand new condition. This ladies behavior is very unusual for a donation center. All of the many locations I’ve donated over the past 20 years I just dropped off the donations inside where the others were. If I need help, someone would gladly help me. Don’t go here if you’re needed to donate items!!! Better to save your time and sanity by throwing the items away or donate to ANY other location. I avoid this location at all costs even though it’s the closest to my home. I have tried 3 times donating here thinking that it was just one person that was rude but most of the staff is also extremely unpleasant.

I’ve donated to this location many times. The employees are usually less than enthusiastic, but today I had the strangest encounter.

If you would like to be YELLED at for not bringing a box, LECTURED on the wearing of mask, and generally showered in hatred, by ALL means bring your charitable donation to this location. I can’t for the life of me understand why a business would have such an awful employee. Not only was the women yelling at all of the patrons dropping of their DONATIONS she was screaming at her fellow coworkers in the back. I also witnessed her chastising an older gentlemen saying that he brought too many items and took up too much time. I highly suggest driving and BYPASSING goodwill to donate your items to a worthy organization such as ST. Vincent’s. Seriously good luck if you choose to use this goodwill.

You might want to pick another location to donate items. The parking situation here is highly stressful, as the lot is usually full, and there are only 2-3 goodwill designated parking spaces. The staff can be stand-offish, and you have to almost work to be able to get to donate something. I recommend the Woodstock Goodwill with a drive-thru drop-off.

Changing my review from bad to amazing because todays service was phenomenal! The sweet young lady and the older man were so kind and helpful. They didn’t make me feel bad for bringing too much stuff like the previous staff. Thank you for a new and better experience!

I went to donate on Saturday 3/13/21 @ 3:30pm. The sign said open, however, there was a sign on the door stating “unloading truck”. An older guy worker left and didn’t acknowledge anyone waiting to donate. A young lady came to the door and pointed to the sign. I asked her how long and she stated to give 10-15 mins. I left and came back in 20 mins. There were 2 other vehicles with their trunks up waiting to donate. They got tired of waiting and left. No one ever came out to get our donations. I saw 3 different workers inside. Unbelievable that not one person could take a few minutes to service us and no one has an ability to multi-task.

I tried twice to donate items at this location and the staff very rudely refused to take the donations without even looking or asking what they were. This was definitely a first, as my experiences at every other location has been pleasant. You should definitely look into replacing the very rude employee who works here, as it seems like she doesn’t care about helping anyone and drives off supporters.

The woman working there today is the most rude individual I have ever met. I had two garbage bags of books to drop off. I did not see anyone there and took the two bags inside and started to sit them down. She came around the corner and began to yell at me for not having a mask. I admit I did not have one as I was not expecting to go inside. Normally you have to leave items you donate outside. I went out the door and she followed me still yelling and telling me she was going to call the police. I sat the two bags outside the door and proceeded to my car. She was yelling and still saying she was going to call the police. She said she was going to throw the books in the trash can and carried them and threw them behind my car. I put them back in my car and as I was leaving she was still yelling she would call the police. I told her I did not care what she does. I will find another charity to donate to in the future. Better get rid of this person before no one donates again.
