In 1995, area civic and medical leaders formed Community Blood Center of the Ozarks with one simple mission:
“To provide a quality blood supply, in a timely manner, at the lowest reasonable fee, while remaining accountable to the local community, blood donors and health care providers.”
Since our beginnings more than two decades ago and thanks to the efforts of our many volunteers, we have become the sole provider of blood products for 41 hospitals located in three states. When there is an excess of blood locally, CBCO supports other parts of the country that may be short on supplies. CBCO also supplies blood to the United States military, as part of a national effort to sustain our troops.

The nicest people staff this facility and it’s a great place to serve your community! Make sure you drink plenty of water and are up on iron before you donate. You can donate every 8 weeks. I recommend signing up for the quick pass on the website before you go in; it makes for a much faster process and you don’t have to sit filling out the info sheet.

My wife and I have been donating blood for 30 years but doubt we’ll ever return here. I can’t think of anything else they could have done to make us feel less welcome and more uncomfortable. I guess there’s a reason why this is the only outfit in our experience that doesn’t do a follow-up donor satisfaction survey.
