Community Blood Center of the Ozarks

In 1995, area civic and medical leaders formed Community Blood Center of the Ozarks with one simple mission:

“To provide a quality blood supply, in a timely manner, at the lowest reasonable fee, while remaining accountable to the local community, blood donors and health care providers.”

Since our beginnings more than two decades ago and thanks to the efforts of our many volunteers, we have become the sole provider of blood products for 41 hospitals located in three states. When there is an excess of blood locally, CBCO supports other parts of the country that may be short on supplies. CBCO also supplies blood to the United States military, as part of a national effort to sustain our troops.

Based on 41 reviews, this Blood donation center has received a rating of 3.6 stars

They are always amazing and helpful. I love that I can fill out my questionnaire at home before my appointment. I also love that they text me so I dont even have to make an appointment online to donate blood products. The staff has always treated me kindly and been very pleasant.

I donated a double unit of platelets. The ‘stick’ was no pain! The machine did not beep one time. It was so quiet I took a nap everyone was great! Thanks Dezi

I really enjoy going to donate at the cbco it’s pretty nice to be able to go and to give blood and get yourself a t-shirt they’ve also got some snacks once you’re done you can go get a beverage or maybe a little something sweet sometime some Savory like a chips they’ve got all sorts of stuff and in addition to the T-shirt you never going to leave empty-handed for sure they’re also always given away the chance to win prizes as well as just straight up Rises just for donating within a certain month never pass up the opportunity because it’s for good cause you don’t get paid up front but that’s because it goes to real living people and not scientists doing a bunch of research and a lab you know that your blood is going to another living human being that and could potentially save some lives overall I would say that it is a bloody good time

I’m a regular platelet donor so I come in every other week or so. The folks at CBCO are always great and they’re part of the reason I’m happy to pop in as often as I can. The check-in process is quick and the staff are friendly. They make the entire process as painless as possible. Even the actual donation bit (because let’s be honest, being stuck with an 18g needle isn’t the best feeling in the world). I’m a notoriously hard stick and they rarely miss – which is quite a feat when it comes to my veins.

My husband and I had a date night here, great service and snacks. Gave blood for the first time here because I was convince free sushi. I was super nervous that my legs were shaking. The nurse was funny and positive throughout the whole thing. They also have the best snack selection afterwards like twinkies, cheese itz , nutty buddy, and a good drink selection. It only cost a pint of blood to eat! 4/10 for date nights, 10/10 for saving lives

I really went back and forth about posting a review but I’m very disappointed with my experience. I booked an appointment online and you have to choose a time. I show up to the appointment 5 minutes early to be told I need to wait 45 min or more. I point out I have an appointment to which I’m told all the appointment does is tell staff you plan on being there at some point during that day to donate. I don’t understand why you would choose a time if that’s the point and nowhere during the process is this communicated until you show up to the blood drive site. I work and had scheduled work appointments around the time I reserved. The woman working he desk just told me to come back before 5pm.

Providing blood to the community is a wonderful thing. However, working for this company is awful. I spent of year of my life there and I have never been so stressed out and depressed because of a job before. The roads staff is responsible for majority of the blood being supplied but is treated the worst out of all the workers. Communication, there is absolutely none. No true breaks or meal times for working all day. Too much overtime. Sometimes your home by 9pm but scheduled to be back at 5am. Supervisors don’t supervise but instead take advantage of their position. The drama is bad x5. And most of it is from the older women that have worked there for a while that just pick on younger staff. Management in the offices do nothing to help road staff and would rather write individuals up or fire them for any inconveniences they don’t want to deal with.

I’ve been in the Springfield Missouri area for about 6 months now and given blood to CBCO twice. Each time I was helped in a timely manner. I went through the question portion after a very short sign in period. On both dates, after the electronic questions, I was immediately processed in the blood testing room…no waiting around. All test were quick, professional and good conversation.
