Been donating for the last year on the buses / mobile drives, so my visit here was the first to a brick and mortar location. Everyone was very friendly, and they gave out a very generous “thank you” gift for donating. Monica is the BEST phlebotomist I’ve had with Carter. Solid stick and explained everything, so I knew exactly what to expect. Try to work with her if you can. 🙂 I was in and out for whole blood in about an hour. Wished I knew they needed platelets ahead of time — couldn’t because of my schedule (takes ~2 hours to donate platelets).

Nathan was great and efficient echeck-in. Mickey was awesome at screening and throughout the whole process it was great! I was super nervous and it’s been years of not donating due to bad experience. Definitely coming back here to donate.

Cheyenne has the customer service demeanor of a porcupine. Rude, abrupt, ice cold. No consideration for the donor. On a general note, Carter needs to get the infrared thermometers to save time. Also give donor a glove to use when operating the mouse to accept terms or clean mouse with disinfectant. I should not have to ask. I won’t go to the Irving location again, although my July visit was fine.

I’ve been a long time donor. Most staff are friendly and professional. However, during my recent donation, which took place during the COVID-19 outbreak, one staff member wore a mask on her chin – ie, it did not cover her nose at all and only partially her mouth. When I pointed it out to her, she shrugged and said, “It will only fall back down anyway.”

BEWARE…If you go, just do a normal “blood” donation. Don’t get pulled into a Red Cells, Platelets, or Plasma donation (or a combination of the 3) unless you understand them. The Irving team will pull you into those without being forthcoming about the differences, especially if you are a first time donor. If a chair (and medical equipment) are available at the time you go, they will say it doesn’t take that much more time, and get you in the chair. Instead of just putting a needle in your arm and taking blood for 5 minutes, these procedures take alot longer, and leave your red blood cells behind. It is as if the machine is washing your blood. This is really scary to me because of the cleanliness of the machines. Additionally, the Irving staff is sensitive and gets upset very easily if you complain about the torniqute being too tight or the needle incision hurting. They don’t want any complaints or questions – or they will just stop right in the middle of it, take out the needle, and just quit. I found them to be a very nervous bunch.

Sometimes busy but so worth it to have the opportunity to save a life. You don’t have to do anything! Just sit and donate! More people should do it!
