Used to donate during blood drives at work. Started donating at Parker location and have donated there few times now. I’ve always made appointments so haven’t had to wait ever.

I’ve been donating at the Parker location for several years, and have always had a great experience. However, the last several months its been going down hill (I know, Covid is a factor). Today I walked in and was told I needed an appointment. I went back to my computer but couldn’t log on the site. So I called and got a recording that said my estimated wait time was 13 minutes. The recording asked me if I wanted to opt out and leave my number for a call back. I tried that but the mailbox was full. Then I called back and was willing to wait the 9-13 minutes but was automatically transferred after 3 minutes of holding to a recording instructing me to leave a message and someone will return my call, that mailbox was also full.

Earned my 1 gallon donor milestone at this location, and they gave me a nice looking lapel pin to commemorate the occasion. This place is friendly, modern interior, and CLEAN surfaces/ floors everywhere. Check in is very quick and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I use their on-line portal to schedule my appointments, and pick a date from their calendar that works good for my schedule (opens from 7am-7pm daily, except for Wednesdays). The snack and beverage area that you go to after your donation, is always well stocked with a variety of choices from sweet snacks, to savory/salty selections, plus bottled waters and juices. They have a large TV up high on the wall in the donor area so you can watch the news or other cable channel while you relax in the recliner and donate. Pre-screening of your health history is done in a small private room that has a sliding door that shuts closed, so that your privacy is protected from other donors in the area. Love this place!

I had an appointment, filled out the online questionnaire via the Vitalant app, and arrived 20 minutes early (as requested). I was told that I would have to sit through an interview, answer the same questions on paper, then wait an hour before I could give blood. When I asked if we could expedite the process, I was told I could leave if I couldn’t wait… so I left. I won’t be returning. Word to the wise- block out at least an hour and half for your appointment and expect horrible customer service.

This place is a joke, they’re more concerned about making sure you wear a mask and less concerned about securing blood during a blood shortage. Also they can’t be reached by phone. Avoid like the plague

The staff at the Parker facility has always been great. I have been regularly donating whole blood (WB) for years, there and elsewhere. This week was a little different. They asked me if I would give double red blood cells (2RBC). I had never heard of 2RBC, but they said that was the greatest need at the moment, so I agreed. I asked a few questions, and they said that the time before I could start exercising again was the same as for WB, although I would not be able to donate again for 16 weeks instead of the usual eight weeks. I have since learned that my red blood cell count, which is the oxygen-carrying part of my blood, would not recover until the 16 week mark. This has put a serious crimp in my activities. I believe that the switch from Bonfils to Vitalent may be responsible for the push to get 2RBC donations, and I don’t believe the staff was completely honest with me about the impact on donors. I will not be giving any 2RBC donation again in the future, and I may be going elsewhere for WH donations as well.
