I have mixed feelings about the center. When they’re staffed properly, I enjoy going and don’t usually experience any issues. But in the last 6 months I have been sent home several times due to staffing issues. I drive 45 miles round trip twice a week to donate. So it’s such a waste of gas when I can’t donate for something beyond my control. I would also note that my interactions with the nurses are almost always unpleasant!! They act like they hate their job, and I’m an inconvenience. Would it kill them to smile like they are happy to have patients??

They don’t adhire to appointment at all… Waited over 2 hours each visit only to be told by a nurse that 1. cause I had sniffles that she wasn’t gonna pass my physical. 2. That is was to late for her to do my physical cause she had been to lunch. They need better time management & better service especially with these nurses.

They are too understaffed to take care of their donors. I came in last weekend with only two techs who were sticking people. The line was wrapped around the donor area; I was there for almost 4 hours. Needless to say, they were rushed. So, the tech jams the needle up my arm. They had to reposition the need 3-4 times and I got nauseous. They had to stop the machine. Later that evening, I had a little blood in my pee. Well, if you look up causes for blood in pee after donation, it says air embolism from needle moved too many times. I made the mistake of telling the nurse FIVE DAYS later that I had a little pink pee once and I got differed until I paid for a doctor’s visit. Why? I have no pain now almost a week later. I have no bloody pee. Go to the one in Hueytown. This is really not a type of business where you can get away with filling every colored area for two techs. If the doctor who oversees the place was any good, they would have a practice and not telling me to go pay someone else to check my urine for an issue a tech caused.

Had the worst experience with this super rude nurse on Friday afternoon during the memorial day holiday. Because I’m from another country, she asked me more than once if I spoke English. And yes, I do! When it was her southern accent that was impossible to understand, also, she kept insisting that someone must have helped me with the test. She had a horrible accent and was difficult to understand, and had no patience for repeating information. Then I decided to leave because I was tired of being humiliated.

Donated blood today & Dawneshia was my person and she was awesome! She shows true professionalism in her work and I hope I have her every time I go! Barely felt her stuck me!

My first 3 appointments were ok, though the wait is RIDICULOUSLY long due to staffing issues. 4th appointment was turned away for having a pulse over 100. Ok, understandable. This last time checked in, went through prescreening, waited and hour and a half. Always use the same arm never had a problem, however this time was denied and told “Quality control states we can not stick through any ink. We also require there be a 1inch space of ink free skin in order to donate” I and a lot of other donors are HEAVILY tattoos and piercings. Why after several other donations am I just being aware of this now? Shouldn’t that be apart of the screening process? Response I got “oh we don’t perform the screen process that’s a different department” but they check your veins during the physical. My tattoos didn’t just magically appear over night! I work in the medical field and heart broken that this facility is not informing their donors or clearly training their staff. I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING.

This place honestly needs to be shutdown by the relevant medical regulatory agencies. These people aren’t even state certified just in house training and it shows. No one cares about their job, they just rush and hurt you due to wanting to resume their conversations.

The absolute worst. I had an appointment at 1:45 for a physical since it had been a long time since i last donated. I arrived 15 minutes before because I knew there was a bit of a wait and I waited 30 minutes before I even got asked my name and information. Another 30 minutes to get started on the assessment because i had to wait for someone to tell me to start. This is unacceptable. I have been here an hour and a half already and I haven’t even begun to donate. This is ridiculous. Then to make matters worst the staff is rude and push you off to the side to be someone else’s problem If you ever decide to donate make sure you have the entire day free. You will be staying until close. Absolutely terrible.

Donated plasma for almost a year. Just started with this place and the staff is so nice except the lady with the long braid who does the fingersticks. Completely rude, doesn’t talk to you, makes you feel like an idiot. Makes me want to turn around and walk out when I see her

I have been providing plasma to this location since it opened. 2 days prior to Thanksgiving 2022 my wife and I experienced a house fire which since then has had us displaced into a local hotel. I’ve left 4 voicemails to the Birmingham center and 3 emails to the “contact us” link on the main website. To this day I’ve not gotten any response. I decided to make an appointment with physical in order to begin again donating and to have my pay card replaced. Once arrived I told the staff of my situation..they allowed me to retake the long questionnaire and wait on the nurse to finally get to me after the obvious behind schedule day they have become known for..after my time with the nurse she departed and returned to tell me I cannot donate because of my temporary displacement due to home fire…these people are not respectful with my time or issues and I ended up leaving 2 hours later without donating…the staff, management and overall location etc have developed into a nonprofessional and disrespectful entity since opening…I will NEVER be back to this place….EVER. I wish I could give a -star review
