This review is specific to blood donations office. Office is clean and perfect for donations. If you have travelled outside United States within three years or if you are non United States citizen then read the website if you can donate, or call up and confirm before visiting. Blood donations office timings are different than other offices of Red Cross.

For the blood donation center specifically.

Great volunteer at the front desk, rude staff. I signed up for a Power Red donation on the website. When I arrived, I was told they are only doing Platelet donations, which takes a lot longer. I’d never donated platelets before, and the staff seemed irritated by that fact and talked down to me. I hadn’t given blood in several years. The nurse claimed my pulse was too high for a donation at over 100 bpm. My Fitbit indicated I was at about 70bpm, and after I was dismissed for being ineligible, I took my own pulse. 75 bpm. I think the workers here just don’t want to work. This experience does not make me want to return. If I donate again I definitely will not be going back to this location.

For Blood Donation Center only… Staff was rude as hell. The nurse in charge during my donation assumed I was an immigrant and assumed I lived outside of the US. The nurse that set me up laughed out loud when she thought my arm veins were too skinny—and asked other nurses to come and check them out. For the record, I have been donating blood at American Red Cross facilities since high school, across the US. I have never been told or made fun of in such a way. I still donate platelets regular at another ARC facility. If not for the sake of donating blood to help others, I would have stormed out, blood spilling be damned.

Twice I’ve tried donating here. First time, they were super backed up and I waited close to 2 hours. The people working were very clearly running around and going as fast as people could bleed into a bag and there were at least a dozen people ahead of me then the tech blew my vein and I had a massive hematoma for 2+ weeks. Ok fine. I try again. Make a same day appointment in an open slot. Per the directions, I tell the woman who’s checking me in that I made the appointment the same day – there’s no record of me making said appointment despite my email confirmation. Ok, fine. There’s one other person in the waiting room. I wait over 30 minutes and I ask how much longer. No time frame, they’re backed up but I’m next. I said I hope so as I’m the only one here. Still, nothing. I left. I will not be attempting a third time.

I’ve been coming here, quite literally for decades. Never had an experience like last Tues. Got there at 1:05pm, my appointment was at 1pm. They warned me that the wait was about a half hour. Over an hour later, I left. There was a guy before me, who before I left asked the lady up front, that he had been there for *75* min, and he was still waiting, how much longer was it going to be? (His appt must have been at 12:45, and by now, it was after 2.) That’s when I knew I wasn’t going to be seen anytime soon.

When the donations go well, they go very well. The staff are courteous and needle insertion uneventful.

Very inefficient. I went after seeing an advertisement on high need of blood in USA. I took an appointment, took time to read all terms of eligibility, filled all answers for fastpass. Arrived 10 minutes early. Facility was empty. I soon went to a room. My temperature, blood pressure, blood test was taken. Instruments were old and I didn’t observe proper cleaning of thermometer after use. A series of questions started which were similar to ones I had already answered for fastpass. Each question was read slowly for me to answer. Nurse was very confused at times in what she needs to mark as answer. After 45 minutes of question answer, I was informed I am ineligible as I have traveled to India in last 3 years. What a waste of everyone’s time. If this was an eligibility, they should highlight it. What was fast pass for, where I sincerely put all answer to be prepared for event. This was such a simple and important question which should be covered first in fast pass and should be among first question of any questionnaire. Total waste of time for me and their staff.

I waited here for 1.5 hours. I watched at least 14 people come in and leave before I even got to the chair. I just assume they were donating different parts of blood and were prioritized. I was told only once at the 45 minute mark that ‘it would not be much longer’. No additional information. If you’re 2 hours behind, LET THE PEOPLE IN THE WAITING ROOM KNOW. At least we can plan for it. No one has the luxury of spending an entire day at the donation center, no matter how badly we want to donate.

Too slow, not prompt. My appointment is more than one hour delayed. Also, the room is too crowded. I am very uncomfortable to stay in the room given the current covid situation. It needs to be improved.
