Honestly the first time my husband and I went here it was amazing they helped so much. They put My husband and I donating side by side. When I was weaker then usual they made sure I was okay before.

Imagine taking an hour+ out of your day to donate and you haven’t eaten all day so you spend more money on food. Then when you get to the site to donate it takes more time because they don’t send you the “rapid pass” via email. To top it off you have a needle shoved into your arm without the site being covered and blood shoots out. Then instead of donating you have two separate people take turns digging into your arm with a needle while telling you you’re being a good sport. Only to be sent home and the half a bag I filled while enduring the madness is completely useless. 8 weeks more like 8 months. Keep the T shirt, this is why it took me so long to want to donate again. Use a shovel next time and stop calling me.

I donated whole blood about a week ago after a hiatus of several years and it was a great experience. Virus protocols are a hassle but they have no choice. The woman who took my blood pressure and hematicrit was sullen, but everyone else was friendly and helpful. They still have snacks and drinks when you’re done. It’s the easiest good deed you can do.

Love giving blood at American Red Cross. The volunteers are so nice and very helpful. I had no idea that 93% of everyone at red cross is a Volunteer. What an amazing place. I was told they need more volunteers for everything. If you have any free time stop in and they will be happy to talk to you about amazing opportunity

I can’t say anything bad about these people. The service the provide to help those in need is selfless. I try and donate as much as possible and the staff that does the scheduling make it happen. The phlebotomists are always helpful and friendly, walking you through every step of the way to help you understand. I am happy to be a part of the service the provide and look forward to my donations. Who can complain when you get cookies and apple juice after!!

Have you ever wanted to give blood for the sheer goodness of having done it, but you didn’t want to wait for a drive to come to your place of work or worship? This is the perfect place for fulfilling that sudden impulse to do good. The Red Cross is there and hoping to facilitate your generosity when you have the time and it’s convenient for you. Drop in and have the staff make you feel like you’re giving Mother Teresa some genuine competition. Whatever else you do that day, chances are this donation will rank as the very best.

I made an appointment at Murray Park Rec Center on a Saturday morning and I could never find them. I drove around to all of the buildings and doors were all closed and dark. I looked for a Red Cross van–none to be found. Next, I went into the Red Cross office on 9th East and 6616 South and they were there but could not draw blood at that time. They wanted me to go on line and set up an appointment which I have tried to do but I can’t figure out how or exactly what to click on. I looked at the site again today and I still cannot figure it out. I guess they really don’t want blood as much as they say they do on TV.

Every time I donate here, I leave angry. Plan on waiting at least 30 minutes before starting. This last time I tried it was 45 minutes. The first 25 minutes I was the only one in the waiting area. I know everything takes longer because of COVID, but they should be scheduling appointments accordingly.

I donated bone marrow and had to “donate blood to myself” and ran into problem after problem with them.

I’ve been donating blood at the American Red Cross for a very long time. They do a great job and I’ve never had any issues. Make sure you drink lots of water before donating – it’ll make the donation go much faster and reduce the chance of complications. Also, eating before going is a good idea too. 🙂
