My very first blood donation here in the United States and the experience in this location is SUPERB! Been donating blood regularly in the Philippines before and I was deferred for 3 years after I migrated in Michigan. I have no choice but to wait. 4 years later ( Delayed myself in 2020 since COVID happened ) I was accommodated with awesome staff. Nurse Beverly and Kristie made my Blood donation seamless and pleasant. I am always scared on the last part of donation process (Pulling out of the Needle) but Nurse Beverly made it ultra painless. Very professional yet fun to interact with.

I had a great experience at this donation center! All of the staff were very nice and the facility itself was clean and neat. Peyton took care of me through the donation process and she was extremely friendly, kind, and gentle. I will definitely return to this location for future donations!

10/10 donated whole blood here this week and it was the best experience I had donating. Next time I donate will be 3 gallons so I have had many experiences and here was the best. Friendly staff, and I set a new personal time record (walking out the door less than 40 minutes from when I came in). Will return in 8 weeks or so!

This was the worst blood donation experience I have ever had. I have been donating off and on through the red cross since 2009 when I was 16, and rather consistently since college. I scheduled my appointment in advance, and drove over a half hour to get there. The lady at the front dest was very nice. However, once I went into the room they were extremely rude. There was a large sign as you enter asking you to mention if you had recently traveled – which I had. I told the lady and she said “was that a question or a statement?” in a very rude tone. She then asked me when I last donated, and I said I didn’t know the exact date, but it was just over four months ago. She looked at me accusingly and noted that it wasn’t in the system. I explained that I donate sometimes in Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, and California through different companies, so this was why. I wasn’t sure which company I donated through last. She said they needed the exact date, and went to get her supervisor. I went on my phone to find the last confirmed appointment. It was through Blood Centers of the Pacific in California, on 2/16, just over four months ago. I showed this to them, and told them it was my most recent one. However, they wouldn’t believe me, and told me I needed to call them to confirm. I called, but it is a 3 hr time difference, and so Blood Centers of the Pacific was closed. I asked, angrily now, if I was going to be able to donate today, to which she replied that I could if I called the company and came back later with proof. I replied that I would not be coming back.

I have donated blood and platelets at this location for several years. Every experience has been a good one. The staff is friendly and I have been thanked for my donation every time.

Every time I have been I’ve had a minimum 20 minute wait, even if I’m on time for a scheduled appointment. Today I brought my son with me and even though he was in a stroller they wouldn’t let me donate. However, they were kind enough to let me sit in the waiting area for 25 minutes before sending me away. I used to bring my other 3 kids to the Berkley location and it was never an issue. I don’t have a problem with their policy but some notification would have been nice. Instead, I wasted over an hour of my day.

Went to donate plasma for the first time drove 35 minuets because this was the closest location to me that did plasma. Told and talked to the lady who was going to do it about it, and asked her multiple questions. The process was faster then I researched, when it started the lady said she was starting break. Found out after the lady left I drove 35 minutes to this location to either be lied to or had a unqualified person, because she took whole blood. Which I understand is needed but I could’ve found somewhere much closer. I just find the situation frustrating.

Have had reasonable waiting times in the past and a friendly staff but yesterday’s appointment was a disaster. First, after registration, an nurse/operator tells me that their Double Reds machine isn’t working and do I want to stay and give whole blood. So I stay with two people ahead of me and the three of us sit there for an hour. Nobody comes to advance us along. A gentleman comes in with a 2:30 PM appointment (it is 1:00PM) to see if he can get done before 2:30PM. The attendant says that it is unlikely with only 2 beds working. He leaves, mildly upset.

The only pleasant person on staff was the receptionist. Everyone else I spoke to was very abrupt and rude. I used to love donating blood but my entire experience with this center turned me off from the whole thing.

I have donated blood many times since I turned 16 and this place is close to my work so I decided to try it out. My appointment was at 6:45 but I walked in at 6:46 because I every door I tried was locked. They told me they were closed and could not take me but I insisted because I am very aware of their 5 minute rule if you are late. The nurse was extremely rude when I went in. I have NEVER had low iron and I know exactly what to eat the day I donate and she told me my iron was too low. I asked to see it and she closed it out right away. She tried my other finger and said the same thing. I asked to see it AGAIN and she turned it off and said “I dont think it’s gonna come back on” like I didn’t already know that. The service here is unacceptable and I feel very mistreated and will not be returning. Don’t waste your time coming here.
