Donated successfully again at Sable Oaks!! I say successfully because after 2 times of failing years back( clotting stopped etc) I almost stopped trying but everyone there is so encouraging and skilled. Special shout out to Emma who rocks and never misses a beat! Wyatt was still in training and did such a great job! He will definitely be a favorite in no time. I understand the frustration if you are trying to squeeze in a donation in a short time frame but everyone there was pitching in and scrambling the entire time I was there. Thanks to all!

I went to the Portland center today a little earlier than my appointment. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. They were able to get me in a little early. Grace, my Phlebotomist was excellent! She was thorough, professional, and caring.

Very disappointed. Stated that walk ins were welcomed today. Couldn’t call to confirm as the only number I could find was the national number and the message said they were closed. Drove up, waited, had someone tell me to read over the paperwork then take I seat. I did. Then another person tells me they’re too busy for walk ins. I’m here to donate O- blood. They should accommodate anyone willing to donate within the stated hours. I wonder why there’s always a shortage and demand. Most blood drives in my local area are during work times which make them inaccessible. Then you find one and decide to drive to it and they won’t take you. My weekends and days off are busy. I shouldn’t have to conform to an appointment time. If I’m willing to wait hours to donate, then someone should be willing to take my blood. If you choose this as your job, then sometimes you may need to work a little longer or take a shorter lunch. This was my first and last time to the donor center. Sorry to those who could have had my blood.

Nurses are great, when they can get you in. It’s more of a flagship/HQ for blood drives and I find it to be extremely inefficient at regular blood donations. You are better off going to an actual blood drive if there is one that fits your schedule.

I’ve donated both Red Blood and Platelets here and they treat you great. If you are using GPS to get to the donation center I’d suggest using 18 Ashmont street for the GPS address as the Donation Center and it’s parking is “around back” and if your hungry after your donation the Great Lost Bear is adjacent to the Red Cross!

Usually good service but sometimes they can be a little mean if you don’t do rapid pass or whatever.
