If there is a “critical need” why cant you walk in and give blood. Last 5 times i was in the area i was told people were on break and come back in a few hours. Quite frustrating to say the least when alk the chairs are empty.

I’m writing a critical review because of an experience at a community blood drive that I assume was managed out of this facility. I’ve donated many, many times at the Athens Donation Center and at community events and it’s always been great – until yesterday. I walked in 6 minutes late for an appointment at a local church. I must’ve been the last appointment. The Red Cross person said the’d closed the drive 1 minute ago since I was 5 minutes late and could not re-open it. No apology, no explanation, just “go away”.

It is easy to give blood at this location. When you walk in, you check in with the computer by typing your information or scanning your donor card. Having an appointment and doing the RapidPass ahead of time using the Red Cross app saves a lot of time. The employees are welcoming and very efficient.

Had an appointment scheduled for blood donation at 0740 on April 9th 2022 and arrived early, but the doors were locked. Saturday hours are listed from 0700 to 300PM and I clearly had an appointment scheduled at this time and date but the doors were locked. I came across two counties to get here but received no emails, texts, or phone calls letting me know they would not be there or that it was closed – all this afteee receiving a number of previous phone calls previously telling me that urgent blood donations are needed due to critical shortages.

The employees were friendly and efficient! They got me in in a decent amount of time as a walk-in and the center was clean. I really enjoyed the hot blanket I got to use while donating ☺️ and I love my new shirt!

Always friendly people that keep to a schedule. I’ve never gone there and had to wait past my appointment time. I’m glad they are there doing this important work.

I started coming here after having given several blood donations at temporary donation centers on the U.G.A. campus. I get kind of clammy and come close to passing out after donating, so a tech encouraged me to go to this donation center on Atlanta Highway because it is a calmer and more comfortable environment than the pop-up or mobile donation units. She was right and I have been back multiple times and will continue coming here to donate.

Everyone is so nice here. They deal with me coming in pretty much every week. I have been having issues getting my iron up. So I go in every week until it is higher enough to donate.
