I’ve donated O+ blood many times at the Innsbrook ARC location … but never was I ever treated so rudely as I was on Friday 11/4. An older, shorter stocky woman with graying black hair left me sitting for 40 minutes after my scheduled appt, then proceeded to tell me that she didn’t have the need to take my blood … and just told me to leave because I had coughed once. It was all very odd and sad. She said it was because of covid … but then she coughed. So I left … a wasted hour. I doubt I’ll go back.

I have always had a wonderful experience donating blood and have donated over 2 gallons in my life! However, today made it so I may never donate again other than mobile blood drives (maybe). I came in with my fiance, and this extremely rude worker yelled at us for him being with me and us not having masks. Heidi is absolutely amazing and I love seeing her, unfortunately she was busy (but still took time to say hi quickly) and this other woman essentially ran us out. I’ve never felt unwelcome there and always donate every time I am eligible. I feel like I’ve been shunned from a place that has brought me so much joy in the past. I love to donate because I had a transfusion many years ago and know the importance of it. Unfortunately it seems like saving lives has become secondary and treating donors like bad people is now ok. I’m so upset! Something that has always been special to me was just shattered.

Had 1215 appointment. Greeted and had to sit in a chair in the corner beside the trash can. 30 minutes after my SCHEDULED appointment still not called back. They told me they don’t know how much longer and I could reschedule.

I gave blood at a blood drive, I told them I was 17 and they sent me to a bus. I told them 4 separate times my birthday and they said nothing. They took my blood, and after asked me again how old I was, I replied respectfully that I was 17, they asked me for a permission slip signed by my parents I said I didn’t know I needed one because I have donated in the past and didn’t need a permission form. They held me there until one of my parents could come. I’m a little upset they didn’t realize before I gave blood because all I wanted to do after giving blood was go home. Other than that they were very kind and understanding.

I just drove to the clinic to make my 7:00am appointment and there is sign on the door saying they are closed. A call to reschedule would have been nice. I’ll be going somewhere else.
