Everything went very smoothly. I was able to donate blood. I filled the blood bag quickly. Went and drank 2 glasses of water, had 2 cookies. Felt great and left for home

Always an honor and great privilege to be able to donate blood. The volunteers and staff are very courteous and friendly. My wife and I felt very safe as we donated blood to help those who need it. I’ll be back in roughly 16 weeks to donate again.

I was going to give power red, but apparently you have to be overweight to donate. 150lb at 5 foot 5 is the minimum.. like really? I cancelled my appointment. I am 15lb under their expectation. Their morning hours are always booked for regular donations. I tried but they miss out because I am healthy. They aren’t that desperate for blood clearly.

I scheduled an appointment to give blood today, as I have before in other locations. I waited almost 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. Then when going through the testing and questioning, I informed the phlebotomist that my veins roll and are often difficult to find so she could find someone more experienced if need be. She then checked both of my arms twice trying to find a vein, another phlebotomist asked if she needed help and she said no but she clearly did need help…she had the needle in my arm and was not in a vein. I was feeling sick at this point and told her that sometimes I do get lightheaded or feel nauseous to which she replied, “why are you here?” I will not be returning and would recommend finding somewhere else to donate.

Went to donate platelets on July 11, 2019. The phlebotomist who was drawing my platelets was a nightmare. She was completely unprofessional as she was wearing a bandana that didn’t follow typical medical apparel. However, I wouldn’t even mind that if she knew what she was doing. So she sits me down in the chair getting ready to put the needles in, one in each arm. She puts one in my left arm first and then my right arm. After a little, I complain that the left needle feels funny. It ended up being loose so she pulls it out and stops the bleeding. She offers if I want to find another vein and try again, or to call it a day. Knowing people need these platelets, I offer to go again. This time when when puts the needle in, she completely misses! It goes through the vein and it hurts so bad. My arm instantly swelled up and some other girl working there had to tell her to take it out. It gets worse from here. My phlebotomist decides she needs to reach for something and thinks it’s a good idea to do it with the needle still in my arm. So she holds the needles and completely stretches to grab something. All while this is happening it causes the needle to start sliding around in my vein! This lady was not following protocol whatsoever. After she finally pulled out the needle blood instantly poured out and she was in no hurry to cover it up. And when she finally did, I was reluctant to move that arm because it hurt really bad. She then had the audacity to say “you can move your arm, it isn’t like I paralyzed you or anything.” I was dumbfounded at that. She showed no remorse for slaughtering my arm. What was supposed to be a 2 and 1/2 hour platelet donation fell short after about 30 minutes. Now after over a week my arm is still extremely bruised and I still cannot do any intense labor. I definitely do not recommend coming here at all. The people that take your blood are unprofessional and not properly trained. I don’t see myself going back to American Red Cross anytime soon. Now I think I see why there may be a blood shortage. These people taking the blood don’t know what they’re doing and no one wants to come back. Don’t go here…

Very unprofessional and not trained well. I had an appointment today for 5 pm and they said it didn’t matter. I would have to wait in line behind 3 people. So I left and I will be donating at Unyts there so much better. Faster , friendly and professional. I’m done donating at Red Cross.

Red Cross is supposed to have a good meaning behind the name, but no. They emailed me for an interview and when I got there they locked all the doors at this specific 3601 location not sure if it was discrimination which made them change your mind but this place has left a bad taste in my mouth and I won’t support it.
