I have donated at this location for close to ten years, but the service has been declining for the past couple of years. The system crashed today, which I understand is out of their control, and led to a delay. However, when I asked for an update 30 minutes into the delay, I was told we “don’t know” and “this happens all of the time.” When I was about to leave and reschedule, the system came back online and I was taken into the back for vitals. The system then crashed again and I had to enter the questionnaire again. The staff also just did not make eye contact or speak directly to me or other donors during the donation process, creating an atmosphere of dispassion and distance. I suggest working on customer service skills for donors to feel more welcome. Thank you for listening.

This was my first time donating blood in the US. I’ve donated blood a couple of times in the Netherlands before. There I’ve had learned that though it is somewhat difficult to find my veins (as they are quite deep) it has never been a real problem. Until now.

I’ve been donating blood here for two decades now. The staff has always been welcoming and personable, and for a good long while (before the change from Bonfils to Vitalant), had a low turnover, which was nice. My only other minor “complaint” is that, since the switch, they also seem to no longer take walk-ins.

I would love if Vitalant could open another location near Boulder. The staff here always seem SWAMPED with donors. Every time I’ve gone in the past year, I’ve made an appointment, but end up waiting at least an hour past my appointment time to donate. They still prioritize whoever walked in the door first, so that defeats the purpose of appointments. Staff aren’t able to look at you, talk to you, or acknowledge you because they’re so busy. It makes it a really uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. I usually leave feeling like I’ve inconvenienced them, even though I’m supposedly doing a good thing by donating (especially considering the number of phone calls I get from Vitalant telling me to donate again!). But the other closest donation site is over 30 minutes drive away. I’ve tried going at different times of day, during the middle of the workweek, etc, and it’s still just really long wait times and that sense of being unwelcome.

Vitalant duns me at least weekly about critical blood shortages, so today I walked two miles each way to donate. I was refused because I didn’t have an appointment (I’ve bee a walk in for the past 15 yrs) and due to a bag shortage, they could only accept appointments. This is NOT a slam on the nice people working in Boulder, but IS a shot on the management. The appt requirement should be clearly posted on the notices asking for donations. This is how you lose a customer of 50+ yrs.

Beware – If you donate blood here you will receive robo calls a few times a week, from a variety of different numbers, asking you to donate again. I’m not sure how to get them to stop, but they’ve been doing it for well over a year.

As a regular donor who has donated almost a dozen times in the last 4 years, I will never be back after my donation today. The phlebotomist Stephanie was talking to her coworker during my entire donation and barely even paid attention to what she was doing. The needle was far more uncomfortable than it has even been, and my arm still hurts 2 hours after I left which has never happened before. In addition, she tied the band too tight after the donation and mumbled through the recommended advice in a totally unprofessional manner. Instead of being treated like a human I was treated like a worthless object, and for that I will never be visiting your company or location again.

I went there today have been a donor regularly for last six months. I got turned away because I have flurrting of the heart at times but it doesn’t require medication.. They make you feel out a fast track on the day of and I feeled out I’ am on sure if I had problems with my heart which I am. I got my doctors okay to it so that all that should be needed. I am a universal donor . So I will hopefully be able to find another place close by .. So I can help save lives and not get turned away I keep getting harassed by them.

Friendly staff and process is good. I am only giving less stars because i feel there should be some extra measures to clean areas, clean surfaces. Cotton rounds were placed on desks with no extra protection or sterilization and then used to wipe blood from finger. Some items and procedures that are used on patient don;t seem very clean or sterile. Full trash bin with other peoples bloody tape or papers right next to station where patient sits to get blood drawn. Overall especially because of covid i would like to see extra steps taken to make it cleaner so we can feel at ease when getting blood drawn.
