Over the years I’ve donated 79 pints of blood.

I waited an hour for a technician to come in and start the initial tests. They said they’re short staffed.

I’m a 22 year old woman, and a few days ago was my first time ever donating blood. I have always been afraid of needles, blood, and shots, so I never imagined I would be donating blood. However, one day I decided to face my fear and donate blood because I know I would be saving lives. I was very anxious at first when filling out paperwork, but everyone at Community Blood Center was incredible, caring, and welcoming. Nui was the woman helping me with my blood donation. She kept asking me if I was okay throughout my entire experience. She was wonderful! Additionally, upon leaving, I stopped to eat a snack and drink some juice. The older gentleman working (I wish I would’ve gotten his name) and I had such a fabulous conversation. He was a delight and even got me a “First Time Donor” sticker! I’m very grateful for this experience and will be back!❤️

While I enjoy donating blood, the calls need to stop. Whenever it is time for me to be eligible to donate, I always receive an obnoxious number of calls. I asked for these calls to stop in the past, but I always have to resort to blocking numbers.

They never have enough staff on. I have the most rarest blood type and love to donate and when I decide to just drop in and give blood, almost always am told, ” no openings.” You almost feel snubbed. Your tempted to go the way of The Red Cross. The Blood Center gives out a free t-shirt, but it’s only for a few weeks of the year, why? Today ,called several times to donate, no one answers the phone There must be no need for the rarest blood type today, on Thursday, at 1:10pm!

They do drives at my college and when I was eligible to donate I obviously signed up. The initial process was fine but once I got in the truck, I had four phlebotomists “attempt” to find a vein and the last one eventually got it. It hurt the entire time and within 10 minutes of leaving, my vein had burst. The rest of the week I had the largest bruise I’ve ever had and couldn’t fully bend my arm. When I called to let them know that one of their phlebotomists had burst my vein, they just said okay and that was it. Every time they have tried to call me since asking me to donate I tell them not after that experience, I will go somewhere else.

Very thorough gathering of information. Nice and attentive staff who are with you every step of the way. Any questions about the procedure are cheerfully and accurately answered. I previously dontated in Milwaukee, and although the size of this blood center is smaller than any of theirs, again, the attentiveness makes for a nicer experience. The focus of getting donors into area blood drives is more than what was offered at SE Wisconsin Blood Center. Good stuff here, and cookies at the end.

I have veins that tend to be difficult to work with, sometimes causing trouble, but the staff is fantastic about being patient and getting done what needs to be done! And they always are sure to show their appreciation for the donation.

I have donated blood many times over the years and my experience has been great. I can no longer donate due to prostate cancer, I wish all those who donate well and keep the blood flowing.
