It finally came down to the security guard at the front door to say something to the staff for me to be able to donate my first time at Octapharma Plasma on Winchester Rd in Memphis, TN. I am hearing impaired and have no idea what the guy said but it made the lady at the front counter first tell me that I couldn’t donate because new donors have to be there before 4:00 pm, which by then was a few minutes before 4:00 pm, to hold on give me a few minutes. So while she walked away to speak to someone, I looked at the security guard and he said that it was all good and you will be donating today. Now to go back 2 days before that day, I showed up that day only for them to turn me away due to a power outage and to try again tomorrow anytime before 5:00 pm. I was ok with that because that kind of stuff happens and it’s nobody’s fault. Well, I showed up the next day around 4:30 pm and once again the guy at the desk said,” Sorry but we don’t accept new donors after 4:00 pm and to come back tomorrow before 4:00 pm. Fast forward back to the lady that comes out of the office after speaking to another staff member and tells me to sit over by the table with tablets secured on top. She told me to wait for another staff member to come over to tell me what to do next. However, I went ahead and touched the screen on one of the tablets and read something like,” Watch the video for new donors for the deaf or hearing impaired.” So I clicked it and watched it before anyone made it over there. When I got up the security guard told me to get with a staff member at the booth. It was pretty much smooth sailing for the rest of the way and I was able to donate plasma. Now 2 days later I’m back and I check in, get evaluated, and am told to sit in the waiting area to be called on. Don’t forget I’m hearing impaired I told the guy at the booth before I sat down and he assured me that he would let them know. I didn’t have to wait too long but I started noticing that other people that had gotten there after me were being called before me to donate. So I walked up to the front counter to speak to someone about whether my name had been called or not. So we walked back over to the donating area and the lady asked if my name had been called. One of the ladies answered back,” Yes but nobody got up and moved on to the person in the queue. Now the lady at the front counter assumes that I’m next and to sit and wait. Finally, the other people that were waiting to donate were waving me down letting me know it was my turn. Still, nobody who worked there came over to let me know it was my turn. I couldn’t understand half of what the lady was telling me while hooking me up to the machine so I just stood there shook my head and just agreed to whatever she was saying. I forgot to mention that the lady who hooked me up to the machine was awesome. She took the liberty to write down everything so that I always knew what was going on. So thank you lady for that. Hopefully, my third trip up there won’t be as bad as the last time. Fingers crossed ! DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE. ALMOST EVERYONE HERE IS UNPROFESSIONAL. NOBODY WEARS A NAME BADGE OR A FACE SHIELD. IF YOU SHOW UP ANYWHERE NEAR CLOSING TIME THEY WILL LIE ABOUT YOUR NUMBERS AT INTAKE. WHEN I ASKED TO SEE THE NUMBERS ON THE MACHINE THEY SAID THAT IT’S NOT ALLOWED. ALL NUMBERS ARE HAND-KEYED BY THE PERSON DOING YOUR INTAKE WHICH MEANS THEY CAN PUT ANY NUMBER DOWN. FOR EXAMPLE ONE OF MY LEVELS WAS SUPPOSEDLY AT 59% AND THEY SAID THE HIGHEST IT COULD BE WAS 58% BUT THEY WOULDN’T LET ME SEE THE READING ON THE MACHINE. THE PERSON LISTED IN THE PICTURE IS THE ONE WHO DID MY INTAKE AND KEEP IN MIND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME HE’S DONE THIS AND THE ONLY WAY I KNEW WHO HE WAS IS BECAUSE OF THE SECOND PERSON LISTED IN THE PICTURE WROTE DOWN THEIR NAMES BECAUSE LIKE I MENTIONED BEFORE NOBODY WEARS A NAME BADGE. ON TOP OF ALL THAT

The Winchester location and the employees are excellent. Sometimes there’s an extended wait due to staffing issues so the process can be a few hours. The ladies and gentlemen work you up thoroughly and are very professional. Patience is definitely a key virtue.

This is the best center that I have been to. I love the workers. I love the process in which this center is set up. It does take long to get the process in. I love the workers who stick with you so that you can donate. I love Ms. Carter, Monique, Kecia, Justice, and Alicia. They stick very well and I love either one of them to stick to me, especially Ms. Carter. She is great. I love this center.

Someone here allowed a woman to donate under my name causing me to waste time and gas coming up there, the only resolution I was offered was to come in tomorrow and donate then, who’s to say the day thing won’t happen tomorrow? Why would I continue to waste my time and energy when your staff can’t even do their jobs correctly. Staff is negligent and inconsiderate of donors time.

I would have given a 5 star although my last time there the manager was very rude and unprofessional. I should feel comfortable in your establishment, every time I said something she came out the office and mean mugged me

I would give negative stars if possible! Austin Peay was decent 6 months ago!! There is a new manager & unbelievably lazy & incompetent staff!! The customer service is non existent. I came in at 12pm & they turned me away immediately after walking in stating “they are not screening donors right now.” I came back 3.5 hours later (2 hours before closing) & was told “since the new donor process takes so long please come back Monday “ … Unbelievable!!!! I spoke to the manager and she was no help at all. The staff did not follow procedure regarding anything. Avoid this location & company !!

Today July 8 2023 I revisited the Octapharma Austin Peay location and was treated very poorly by the staff as usual. I had a very unpleasant, humiliating and disrespectful experience. The young lady named Denise and I might add that the only reason that I know her name is because the supervisor kept saying ” Denise, Denise that’s enough be quiet!” because she heard the manner and unpleasant tone that Denise was using towards me. The computer system wouldn’t allow them to log me in so that prompted me to ask Denise if I went to the Winchester location would I have the same problem because it takes me two hours to travel to the Winchester location and Denise response to me was and I quote ” Why are you getting loud with me” that’s what she said to me and I very calmly stated that I just asked you a simple question. I have never been so disrespected in my life because the other donors started laughing including the staff that were present. Then she told me that she didn’t like my tone and refused to help me any further she said until I changed my tone. I was dumbfounded at how this encounter went left in a matter of seconds. The supervisor at this point took over to diffuse the situation but Denise was still saying disrespectful things to me and the supervisor said for the last and final time Denise be quiet! I am a 50 year old woman being talked to by someone that’s young enough to be my daughter. To add insult to injury I was told to have a seat until they could figure out what was the problem with their system and that Robin the centers director would come and talk to me well it was already 1245 and I overheard them say that she wouldn’t be able to address the issue until 1:30 when her break is over. I have already been cheated out of my money on three different occasions at the Winchester location. I cringe at the thought of going to the Austin Peay location because every time I go I get an uneasy feeling but most of all I am made to feel unwanted. Denise also said to me ” Why don’t you go back to the Winchester location?” The Austin Peay location location is more convenient for me because I live in the area but because of the very poor treatment and lack of professionalism I started going to a different location which takes me 2 hours to get there. I will never EVER return to another Octapharma in my life. I don’t need your insincere apologies. You don’t have to worry about me anymore because I m tired of being disrespected talked about and laughed at by your staff. I’m taking my business else where where I am appreciated. I have held my tongue long enough. I’m not the only one who has experienced this there are others so don’t be surprised when you a great decline in numbers concerning your donors. Denise made me feel like I was 5 years old instead of 50. Im not just stopping here with this complaint I’m going to all the social media platforms and make people aware of the very poor customer relations that Octapharma has and condones especially at the Austin Peay location.
