My husband and I donated today and we had an awesome experience! Everyone we interacted with was so kind and patient, especially Jade (I hope I’m spelling that correctly) the incredibly lovely woman that drew both of our donations today. I’ll definitely come here to donate again next time I’m able to! (Also they have a really good selection of snacks and drinks!)

I donated blood here 10 YEARS AGO, no longer live in state, have no plans to return, and they will not stop calling me. I have requested to be removed from their call list several times and have blocked multiple of their numbers, but somehow they still continue to call.

I have donated to Versiti multiple times and they are really a great place to donate. However, i have had some illnesses and can no longer donate. I have told them this when they call but they continue to call from all different numbers….some private and some not….multiple times a week as well as texting and emailing. It borders on harassment and it has gotten to the point where i just hang up on them immediately which i feel terrible about for the person on the other end but i don’t know what to do anymore to get myself off the list or to stop the calls.

I’m not sure which Versiti it was but I went to donate at Riley hospital and I already made an appointment before going but it still took them 30 mins to get me checked in.. went and sat down to donate and the lady that was going to draw my blood was feeling for a vein and kept saying something about my vein being deep so I told her to use my other arm which she completely ignored and tried to use my vein that was clearly too deep, so when she went to stick me so blew my vein out. Did not act apologetic at all. She continued to move the needle around in my arm asking if it was better because it was hurting and of course it wasn’t going to get better when she completely blew my vein. They were not friendly at all and did not try to make the situation any better.

I am from Florida and apparently Indiana doesn’t take the need for blood products in our case platelets, as a priority. I have several family and friends wanting to donate platelets for my 27 yr old son who is currently a patient at IUSimon cancer hospital in Indianapolis receiving a stem cell transplant. He is going through many bags day, due to, if he does not keep them up he can have another brain bleed. I have contacted Versiti several times in the last 24 hours and did everything they required …Dr. Orders, faxed paperwork etc. they told the Dr. this morning they would call me to tell me how to schedule donations. I haven’t been contacted and have myself called and left several messages. When I contacted the local branch here , since couldn’t get in touch with Wisconsin HQ, they told me they didn’t have orders in the system. Now they just called me and told me that the medical director of IU blood bank and Versiti medical director said they wouldn’t do a “direct donation” for a patient . I have many friends and family members wanting to donate to my son and any platelets not used can go to other patients but IU and Versiti administrators refuse. Unbelievable, in Florida you can go to One blood tell them who you want to donate to and they deliver to hospital with patients name etc. Here they apparently don’t need blood products unless it is easy for them. I’m so disgusted!! People, patients and health care providers need to know and do something to allow people to donate to their loved ones!

My husband went to Versiti and donated twice on his own terms, when he felt like donating. Since then, Versiti has repeatedly called him every week to try to get him to schedule his next appointment to donate and he has told them every single time that he wasn’t ready yet and that he would call THEM when he is ready and to stop calling him. However, they have kept calling him every week again and again. This really is not what we had in mind when we first considered donating and it doesn’t make him want to return!! Stop calling every week and let the person decide on their own terms when they want to return!!

My first time donating! Had the whole nine yards, my veins wouldn’t cooperate easily and I had to lay down because I was going to pass out after. All of that and the staff WAS SO KIND! They made me feel comfortable, they acted quickly, they gave lots of advice for recuperating, and cracked jokes to make me feel better! They made the experience so worth it! The crew that came to our church’s blood drive was excellent!

I donated 3 times already and probably will be the last one at this location, one of the nurses was fighting with my nurse saying that since I was not her patient she didn’t have to check on me while my nurse stepped away, if yall have issues at work patients are not at fault, we do this for free while you guys get paid, if just because I was not your patient and the issues with your coworker you are going to ignore me while I was in pain due to plasma going into my skin instead of my vein maybe you should reconsider your career in healthcare.

I don’t know what it is but I enjoy giving blood. I enjoy feeling like I helped someone. It’s so easy and simple yet most people don’t do it. I have been donating for over 5 years. Can’t even remember when I started. I hope to have blood available for me if I EVER need it. It really isn’t that bad. Bring ID, get checked in, answer questions on a laptop, blood pressure, and iron levels checked, go to the chair and get started. I typically read a book. The staff are awesome and will take good care of you. And you sit for a few minutes after while snacking on items provided. Sometimes they even have gift cards.
