The staff was nice at first, up until after 2 hours and going over the list of medications more than once and neither my anti depressant nor Suboxone is on there list of medications you can’t be on. Well the physical starts and as soon as I “do the right thing” and am honest about the Suboxone I’m LEGALLY PRESCRIBED (even though I clearly saw someone nodding out while waiting to go donate), I was turned away. So basically it seems like they’ll take people who are on street drugs and lie and not those on legally prescribed medications because it “could” bind with the plasma. I explained how I read on the American Red Cross website as well as did research before coming in and everywhere I read says that you can donate on Suboxone, just to be honest to prevent any negative side effects. Long story short, people can lie and donate on illegal drugs with no problem but be careful if you’re bettering your life and are honest about your medications, because even medications that AREN’T ON THEIR LIST can defer you. Even got an unsure response when I asked, “well if I were to stop taking it, how long would I have to wait to donate?” The response: “ummm probably a couple days I’m not really sure.” Well maybe the “reasoning” of it “possibly” binding to plasma and not knowing how long after stopping it should be addressed more clearly because I know for a fact that this was not the right way to go about it. That’s why they should at least have the medivation on their deferment list of medications so people don’t waste 2-3 hours of their lives to get deferred because of prejudice against recovering addicts that are honest. Apparently people still in active addiction that lie are fine to donate though.

They just want your plasma. They don’t pay you properly. You sit forever to be screened and then you go back and wait. They pay everyone the same whether you donate 1000 units or 200. You need paid by the unit. Then the express passes are a joke and should be stopped. And now they are cutting the extras that they give you and make you wait longer. They should compensate people for their time. Pay for the time you waste sitting and waiting. They guy that runs it is only in it to save money to put in his pocket. Something needs done. Corporate needs to come look at how the public is being treated. Maybe start by reading your surveys that everyone fills out. Maybe find out what the people want.

Overall my experience has been pretty good and I recommend it to people. At some point in June I started seeing signs for a change in hours where they added Sunday hours. I tried to take advantage of that today June 2nd, and when I showed up the place wasn’t open. I’m not sure where that went wrong but I’m pretty sure I saw signs inside that said they were going to open with Sunday hours. That’s the only reason I bothered driving from Williamsburg to Altoona to come up cuz I couldn’t come up on Saturday. So will there be Sunday hours or not? It’s a wasted trip

Lori has got to be one of the best people I’ve met at this establishment. Even with how busy it gets, she still looks out for every patient.

Terrible place avoid half the time the phlebotomist can’t hit a vein and then after you get bothered for months to come back and donate because you’re so important they defer you because you don’t know the date that you went to donate the other place whenever they could’ve just picked up the phone And called somebody which lo and behold she called someone and then decided to defer me and state I lied when I told her I said I don’t know totally unprofessional and not to mention the employees who walk around and talk bad about the donors while they’re sitting right there.

Would not recommend. Sat for over 3 hrs, when they finally pulled me for my turn. Nurse stuck the needle in no problem. Minute later proceeded to say hold on gotta stick it farther. Then pushed it a good 2 inches more and hold arm shot with pain and numbness. Proceeded to walk away and bring another nurse who said she had did it wrong and would have to redo it in the other other arm “ even though left arm veins are to small.” Got up and left returned 30 minutes later with pain still in arm. Nurse looked at it and said needle was all the way through my vein. After this talked to manager to manager again to make something right but all he did was apologize once and praised their staff to be better than hospital staff. Would not recommend anyone going there. talked with a stranger outside and she said all their nurses are trained on sight.

I have always had a great experience coming here. Some days of course it will be busier, but the staff is quick to get everyone in and out in a timely manner. They are friendly and kind at each visit under every circumstance. The facility is clean and well maintained.
