I’ve been a donor here for many years. The staff is warm and experienced—draws are always easy and they make sure donors are comfortable and safe. Platelets go directly to patients in the hospital and the center lets you know the type of patient your donation helped. It’s an affirming process I highly recommend!

I have been donating platelets at UNC Blood Donation Center for many years now. The staff is wonderful and the process is so relaxing–seriously! I love going! I get to give back and just have the chance to chill for a good hour or so without feeling guilty and knowing what I am doing is giving the gift of life to someone in need. I highly recommend it. At the UNC Blood Donation Center, I’ve always had an excellent experience with the team. The staff warmly welcomed me and treated me with utmost courtesy. Throughout the donation process, they checked on me regularly to ensure my comfort. Each time I donated, I left with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that my contribution could make a significant difference in someone else’s life. A drop for you, and ocean for someone else. I scheduled a platelet donation at the UNC Blood Donation Center, after reading that there was a national shortage of donor blood. It was an altogether pleasant experience. Everyone was very professional and kind, and it all went smoothly. Be prepared to be there 1-2 hours! It’s a lovely, serene place and it felt good to contribute a little something.

I’ve been donating platelets at the UNC Blood Donation center since 2014 and it’s always a great experience! The staff are friendly and caring, the snacks, drinks, and warm blankets make the experience even better, and the free movie ticket (donate with a friend) and free pizza (donate with two friends) are sweet perks on top of the warm fuzzy feelings you get from helping UNC patients who desperately need platelets. 10/10 recommend!

I gave platelets last week. It was a very smooth, professional, and kind experience with everyone at the center. Not difficult at all. If you can, I recommend going and giving. Platelets can’t be stored for long, so they need a regular flow of donations.
